“Perfection !!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

By far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. All the staff were happy, smiley and extremely helpful. Our room was a family suite, very spacious, bunk beds in a separate room. Beautiful bedding, lovely decor. The views were breathtaking from the restaurant and ocean rooms. My partner and I both had spa treatments which were fab. Swimming pool was warmer than average and again the views were spectacular. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The kids room was the best we have ever experienced, lots of variety and very safe. I can honestly say NOTHING NEGATIVE AT ALL !!! Already looking forward to a spring break !! Well done, and thankyou.....x

Room Tip: Hurry up and book !!!!!

We went on the 2 night Discover the Bay stay which included a room, breakfast and dinner, we up graded our room to one with a sea view, which we were very pleased with. The staff at this hotel with no exception, were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. We decided on our first night to eat at Fifteen Jamie Olivers restaurant, don't bother!!!! very overpriced for very ordinary food, the food at the hotel was far superior. My stay included a treatmant at the spa and I had a facial, one of the best facials I have ever had!! The only reason why I would'nt return to this hotel would be the fact they are a very 'kid friendly' and we are at a stage in our life where we would prefer to be in a place with fewer children

We love going to Watergate Bay in the winter. The family suites are great value and our children (6 and 4) love having their own room. It's really relaxed, there is no need to dress up, there are kids everywhere and sand on the floor sometimes yet it's a top quality place with great food and service. The kids room is brilliant for games and crafting and the pool is amazing. If you want some time away without children this might not be the place but for families it's the best place we have found.

Once again like arriving in heaven despite restaurant being closed for refurb. 1st visit since swim club opened, delightful from the changing rooms to the amazing view over the bay from the pool. Excellent beauty treatment and products lovely. Food yummy. Did taste of the bay, all was excellent, ok not cheap but worth every penny. Spent most of the time with a daft grin on my face

Excellent welcome, fabulous room, helpful and friendly staff. Setting perfect, pool and hot tub superb. Good food , the breakfast really sets you up for the day. We had a taste of the bay package for 12 people which was well organised and excellent value. The staff made my birthday an event to remember. Thank You

Room Tip: We enjoyed the sea view rooms.

Watergate Bay Hotel has the perfect situation, right on the beach with fantastic ocean views from the main communal areas. The hotel has been well decorated and modernized and looks very sleek and chic. Perfectly suited for the Londoners escaping for a seaside retreat (which seemed to make up the bulk of the guests). We were there for a 3 night stay at the beginning of 2014.

Room - we were in Room 22, one of the "Best" rooms with a sea view. The décor is nice, light and nautical. Even though it is one of the best rooms, it was very small and we found it quite awkward. There isn't much surface space and a lot of the room is taken up with a roll top bath which looks great, but means there is nowhere to put a suitcase or to sit other than the bed. The small balcony actually overlooks the car park rather than the sea - so your sea view is through the windows behind the bath. The bathroom was tiny! I dread to think how small the standard rooms are. It was the beginning of Jan, but the room was absolutely freezing and there was no way to control the temperature in the room - the staff weren't very quick to provide us with additional blankets or duvets.

Communal areas - these are all decorated very well. I imagine they get very busy in the summer months as they were fairly heaving in January. This is clearly a very family friendly hotel, which is great if you have kids, but if you don't there is not much chance of getting away from the noise of children running around throughout the hotel at any time of the day. The "Ocean Room" which is part of the spa complex had a very small sign suggesting that it was an adult area, but that didn't seem to be enforced at all and there were kids making a noise whenever we were there. I appreciate as a family friendly place they need to cater to the majority, but I wouldn't recommend staying if you are after some peace and quite, or a romantic break, as it's not really an adult-orientated hotel. It would be great if the Ocean Room was kept to adults only as that would provide a space in the hotel for non-families to relax.

Food - we ate once in the Living Space area which had a lovely menu and good food. They also made some great cocktails. We didn't eat in the main hotel restaurant.

We came away with mixed feelings about the Hotel. It is definitely better than a lot on offer in this area of Cornwall, but although it is a well-oiled machine, it lacked the personal touch of a truly great hotel. For the prices they are charging, we hoped for a stay which was a bit more special.

Room Tip: None of the rooms have truly great sea views, so if we went back we'd be inclined to go for a bi...
