What can i say i just filmed a friend pretending to be Harry potter flying on a broomstick.... this place is the most chilled, fun, friendly awesome place your find in Newquay something is always happening, everyone's always giggling and having a blast (recently a lot at the indo board fails!) Ive not found a nicer atmosphere and place to meet people anywhere ive been.
I moved down to Newquay 2 years ago and started staying here longterm with the intentions to find a house somewhere but fell in love with the place and have found a home here!
When i first arrived i thought that Newquay would just be a place where hen and stag do's go to get wasted, but after arriving here i realised that theres way more to Newquay than the sleezy side that has been portrayed in the media and everyone in the lodge showed me the best places to go out and have a good time.
Matts is an awesome base for surfing, when i moved in i was scared of 2 ft waves and am now competing and coaching! From arriving there has always been people around to surf with and as soon as you arrive and say hi your get invited surfing no matter what level, as almost everyone who lives and visits the lodge surfs ! Its about 10 minutes to South Fistral (The Uk's most well known surfing beach) 5 minutes to the bay which when the winds not favorable to Fistral or if the waves are massive there will be a smaller and more sheltered wave in the bay. So always somewhere with fun waves close and easy! if your bringing a car down then your in for a treat!! The occasional lodge surf trips and beach days have been epic!! There are loads of running trails (surf check runs) and walks and after two years im still not bored of them.
The Lodge itself has a rustic unique surf lodge charm, which has been filled with good memories, the only bad thing about it is that i cant take the place with me !!
