After having been in Newquay for four days and eating some pretty uninspiring food I was desperate for a bit of good seafood. Lakeside Cafe did not dissapoint. The normal menu itself is quite small, but the specials board is very extensive. The waitress explained that the restaurant likes to keep its menu interesting and seasonal by having plenty of specials that change regularly. We chose salt and pepper squid and sardines in salsa verde to start, followed by two enormous and delicious portions of moules mariniere with crabs' claws, finally we shared a rhubarb pannacotta. All the food was excellent, although the portion size of the main was far too much for us. To drink, we shared a bottle of Chilean white, which was well priced and very tasty. The atmosphere of the place was very relaxing with really friendly staff, who seemed passionate about the restaurant, and a lovely view of the lake. If you're visiting Newquay and want a memorable meal then give it a go!
