“Excellent holiday Park and terrific staff. Booked again for next year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

This is our 5th stay at Trevornick and it onlys gets better. Though this time the weather was not kind and there were a lot of empty pitches the park still puts on a smiley face. We stayed on a premium pitch with our touring caravan and the pitch was a little boggie due to a lot of rain.
As soon as you arrive you are directed to reception to establish your pitch. Once you have your pitch number you drive to reception where you are shown to your pitch by lovely men on mopeds and asked if you need help. The showers and toilet blocks are very clean and tidy about 2/3 times a day. Th showers are hot and you have the use of plugs for straigtners, hairdryers. There is a family bathroom at a charge of £5.
There are waste water, chemical waste and drinking water stations all around. There is a shop that sells most things and a cafe and also a take away which sells lovely cheesy chips. You can hire most things like fridges etc from the hire shop. There is entertainment and an arcade where the older kids tend to go and enjoy making friends. For the young ones there is a new outdoor playground. Next door the the park you also have the fun park. You can choose between a round of golf, go fishing or a freindly round of pitch and putt. (On a tuesday either before 10am or after 4pm kids go free).
We visited Woodys resturant while there and the food and service was excellent. Not much room though if there are a lot of you but you can choose to sit outside under cover.
The beach is a walk down the hill but you have to remember you have to walk back up it, or you could choose the scenic route through the park. There is a bus stop outside the reception and along the road or you could choose to drive down to the National trust car park and pay £5. If you don't want the beach then you can opt for the outdoor heated swimming pool. We did some washing when we were there and the laundrette was wonderful if lots of washings machines, tumble dryers and ironong boards etc.
We have choosen to re visit next year as we find the site has everything we require the our kids love it.

The facilities are really modern and clean, with hot showers and family room showers. For kids, the kids club runs twice a day with a host of activities and there is also the pool, park and fun park, to name a few.
We stayed in the euro tents and were very happy with the high standards of this huge family tent. Fridge, cooker, utensils and crockery were all provided as well as beds and matress.
The cost is higher than other sites we viewed but well worth it. Food onsite is also expensive.
We spent a couple of days just doing family stuff on the site!
Well worth a look and we would defiantly return for another holiday.

We stayed here the 4th aug till the 11th aug in one of there euro tents. My one bit of advice if you want hassle free camping get a euro tent!! It was so spacious for three of us, and had everything we needed inside. Also as tents go was very clean and there were minimal bugs (which pleased the wife).
The location was great, about 20 mins walking distance at a stroll through the sand dunes which the little one loved! And about 10 mins away driving distance from Newquay Town Centre.
We ventured in the club house almost every night, and we have go to say that we were very impressed!! childrens entertainment was fun and was even funny for the parents to watch. the gameshows the children took part in were great fun! We loved harry and harriet and even saw other characters come and do party dances and give out free passes to local attractions, which i though was a nice touch. Adults entertainment was good, enjoyed bingo although some people in the crowd did take it too serious..... The compere was very funny and knew how to control the crowd had us laughing quite alot! The two girls sacha and zoe were great with the little one and all the other children seemed to love them, great characters.

we have booked for next year and can not wait!!

Room Tip: euro tent is the way to go!

We stayed here this week and we have got to say that the whole of my family loved it, Even the dog! Pitch sizes are good and we had enough space for our caravan , awning and a small play area for the kids! Toilets were very clean and constantly saw cleaners around the site . We went in the club house a couple nights on our holiday and the children loved the entertainment , the games and dancing with Harry! They also enjoyed a couple of the kids clubs in the day, the girls were lovely!

We were blessed with weather so most daytimes we spent down the beach , which I must say I was a bit worried about after reading reviews on here about how far away it was, it took us 15 mins to get the beach with two children! So not sure which way the other people on here walked??
A nice touch was that dogs are allowed in the club ?

Only minor complaint would be That there could be more seating in the club it was a bit busy !

We have stayed at a beautiful and relaxing holiday park in St Merryn for the last couple of years and decided we'd visit a different part of Cornwall and by the looks of Trevornick on it's website we figured it was an ideal place to stay - how wrong we were.

The receptionist we spoke to on the phone when booking was extremely friendly and very helpful, however upon arrival the receptionist we were "greeted" by was emotionless and unfriendly. We were just given our tickets and sent on our way.

We were rushed to our Premium Plus pitch (I can only assume they named these with a hint of irony). We were told the pitch had a lake view and was ideal for couples wanting a quiet relaxing stay. What we weren't told was that the pitches would be so cramped that there was only a metre separating us from the neighbours (from hell) and that whilst we could see the lake clearly, it was surrounded by loud obnoxious chavs that had seemingly taken over the whole park and their moronic spawn who we had to watch catching fish in the lake and promptly standing on them because they didn't know how to remove the hooks - this was distressing to watch and NOT a relaxing stay at all. The neighbouring campers were also loud - blaring some crappy trance music at high volume and swigging from their cans of Fosters. At one point some charming gentleman decided to park his Vauxhall Astra on our pitch while we were trying to set up a barbecue, because he'd come to pick up a couple of his family members from the lake. He then got back into the car and with his young toddler sat on his lap, proceeded to drive off again. This man and our encounter with him could have only been more stereotypical had he spat on our barbecue as he left.

Our only escape was to close all the curtains of our VW Campervan and pretend we weren't really there, that it was all a bad dream.

Come evening time the noise levels were not receding, so we put in our headphones and watched film after film to drown out the noise around us and watched until we were so tired that we could physically fall asleep regardless of how loud it was around us.

The next morning we were awoken by the sweet sound of children screaming and their parents doing nothing to teach them the importance of respecting other people around them.

Showers are no relaxing experience either, with the stench of the toilets next to them wafting over the cubicles and the radio spewing out monotonous cheesy pop music from decades past.

During our stay we were shocked to hear that a little boy had been allowed to make his way alone to the lake but had never arrived there, which was unsettling to say the least.

We paid for 2 nights but needless to say the first morning we woke up there we packed our things as fast as our little hands would allow and drove off into the sunrise to return to the heaven in St Merryn that we have always resided at when in Cornwall previously.

We felt that had we complained about any of this at the time, we would either have been laughed at, hushed or if something was mentioned to the louts that were causing problems that being the certain type of clientele that they were, we would probably have ended up having our van firebombed (well perhaps not that extreme, but we are sure it would have caused further issues for us during our stay) and had we asked for a partial refund on account of the fact that we left after 1 night, again we would have been laughed out of the park.

Perhaps we had this experience only because we visited at peak time and that it was not the park at fault but the guests themselves, but having visited other sites at peak times the contrast is highly evident. Perhaps if the park ensured all guests abided by the rules there would not be such a problem, but it seems as though the guests rule the site, not the staff. We will never return to Trevornick and advise anyone wanting to take a holiday where they come back feeling LESS stressed than when they left home to avoid this place. Avoid it at all costs. Seriously. It's really bad.

This was our forth camping trip and we wouldn't recommend this site for many reasons:

Pitches are small and some are on the slope- we paid premium for ours and could hardly park our car next to the tent

No children play area to speak of. Unless you come with other friends or family and have a huge combined pitch you will find that kids have nowhere to go and can't play on their own- other sites we visited had play areas dotted around so the children could play and socialise with the others.

The beach is miles away- it took us 45 to walk with the children- not something we would like to do every day

The pool is too small for the amount of people on site- on the hot day you would not get a place to sit

Shower block- only cleaned once a day- so things were not exactly 5 star....hairs on the floors and walls, dirty sinks, nowhere to hang your stuff- only two hooks for several sinks- 3 star at the most! The website states that the bathrooms are heated- don't be fooled- they are not- all the windows and doors were wide open at all times, so on average the temperature inside was about 1-2 degrees higher then outside- which makes it approx 16 Celsius - not exactly ideal when you come from a cold, damp tent! That coupled with a luke warm water in the tap has made a showering experience not very enjoyable.

We stayed at 5 star Heaven sites before and this one simply does not compare...apart from a lovely reception area, friendly staff and immaculate pitches we really don't understand how did they get their 5 star rating. Unless you know the site well there are no signs to guide you from place to place, so we found ourselves wandering around to begin with looking for things as they were not clearly sign posted.

Our stay at Trevornick does not deserve the 5 star rating.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday in our caravan. What can I say ? its a beautiful clean site, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The day we arrived my step-daughter had her tent but we left the poles at home in Manchester. The reception staff helped me organize a hire tent from a local company. This was a godsend. The kids were kept busy with the golf, fishing, rides etc. We were in the yellow field and the pitches were very generous. Make sure you have a look at the pitch sizes on their website, its really useful. The food at the stables was very nice and not too badly priced either. Woodys was great on a monday for the quiz and live singing, we all enjoyed a few nights in there. The launderette was handy, with having 2 weeks worth of clothes, one wash was £4 but quite a big load. We have booked for next year because we enjoyed it so much. It really is a lovely site, you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: look at their website, hover over the map of pitches with your mouse for the pitch size.
