My wife, son and I stayed at the Headland for 2 nights. The hotel is in a great location and only a 10 minute walk into Newquay.
The views are amazing and we were lucky to have such great weather that weekend. As other rewiews have said, the hotel is a bit dated but I don't think it is trying be anything other than that. If they modernised it, it would lose some of it's character.
Our room was nice and clean and the service of all staff was extremely helpful and polite. We ate at the hotel and as the weather was so nice we ate both nights at the Terrace.
The food was lovely and the service was spot on and we enjoyed our dinner with amazing views. Also due to our 18 month old son waking up at 6.30am, we were the first to breakfast and we had the pick of the views in the restaurant. It was great having breakfast overlooking Fistral beach and watching the early morning surfers. The breakfast also offered a good selection and was tasty.
Although my wife and I are certainly no old fuddy duddies, since having our son we are more select where we stay and after doing quite a bit of research on other hotels and after seeing many of them when we got there, we were delighted we chose the Headland.
If you are a family looking for a nice break and want to stay away from the stag/hens then it is worth paying a bit extra to stay at the Headland. Without doubt it has the best location and offers the best views.
Overall, we enjoyed the experience and although I wouldn't rush back to Newquay (too much of an 18/30 culture going on and I've been there and done that), if I were to go back there is only one place I would consider staying and that is The Headland.
