We arrived in Holywell bay for the first day of our holiday, the sun was shinning and the birds were singing, we decided to stay near the site for dinner and opted for the St Pirans Inn. What a perfect choice it turned out to be, we went in at around 5pm to see what time they served food until as we wanted a wonder along the beach first, on entering we were greated by a couple of extremely polite and helpful staff who advised us they served food until 9pm. We went for our walk and arrived back at the St Pirans Inn at 8:15pm, we were seated advised of a wonderful bottle of wine and then browesed the menu and specials board. I opted for the deep fried cocunut prawns with a home made orange and star anise sauce, wow the prawns were huge and perfectly cooked and as for the sauce if I could get a bottle of it I woukd take some home, yum yum!! I then chose the surf and turf off the specials board, a 6oz steak with fried squid rings and king prawns, again this dish was perfect served with salad and chips, the steak melted in your mouth, the prawns were grilled to perfection and the squid was fresh tasty and delicious, now on to pudding, at this point we, met Jilli the landlady, she is such a warm and freindly person, were looking forward to going back to St Pirians just to have a drink with Jilli! Anyway pudding can only be described as wow (recomended by Jilli), hot chocolate fudge and nut brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream, possibly the best pudding i have ever tasted! Well we are here for 7 nights and will be spending a few more at the St Pirans Inn with there attentive staff, delicious food and of course the wonderful Jilli, cant wait to go back, this is one pub in cornwall you just have to visit!!
