“great park (shame about the weather!)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2009

stayed at hendra 11th-17th july with a group of 6 people in a 8 berth caravan

oasis fun pool:great fun, great slides, well looked after etc
outdoor pool and sunbeds:never used due to rubbish weather, but did notice a £5+ daily charge for using the pool (so wouldn't have paid that anyway)
Tavern Pub and Restaurant:never ate here, but stayed for a drink.drink prices were on the high side.
the club:only used once, didn't rate it much
mario's pizza:pizza's not bad,average prices
Good shop with fresh on site food
good sized clean caravan but found the beds were a little uncomfortable
helpful,friendly staff

The site was very well manicured and looked after.
Good Points
Large touring pitches
Good shop with fresh on site baked bread
Staff quite helpful in cleaning our dirty pitch but we should not have really found our pitch with overflow waste gunk in the first place.
Bad Points
Despite family and couples only - they allowed a party of teenagers who were roudy until 3am. The manangement sorted them out but they should not have allowed them on site.
Signs all over park said to respect neighbours after 10pm (a little early) but no one cared about rowdy campers still partying well after midnight!
The Oasis was far too busy as a Scotyish family visiting during English termtime it was too busy at all times - would hate to see it at peak season.
The takeaways were not open.
The toilets were far too hard for kids to flush so finding a clean toilet was a challenge.
No queue's at the showers - probably as they were rubbish.
The site would be good for young kids but not for our 10 and 12 year olds.

We certainly would not be visiting again.

I will list the good and bad points of our holiday at Hendra,

Good points:

location

weather was nice

Bad points:

majority of staff not very helpful and miserable

fish and chip takeaway closed all week and the pizza place closed for 2 nights as well so no food available on site after 10pm ( was not informed of this on arrival)

lager in pub/clubhouse was warm and flat ( heard many other people comment on this)

caravan breakages deposit not returned for nearly 3 weeks after end of holiday(13th July recieved when holiday ended on 27th June), booking form and website states that deposit will be returned within 7 days of end of holiday.

Nice tidy site. Pitches are a good size. Toilet blocks are nice and big with no queing for showers. The fun pool was really good , even for adults if your a big kid at heart. The tavern breakfasts were pretty fairly priced. The drinks were exspensive we thought for saying the beer was flat. The cabert room was too hot for us but there has been a heatwave i guess. Entertainment was average. Good for families. Were a young couple and there was quite a mixture of people on the site, groups, families, couples etc. The bus into Newquay is cheap and very handy. Last bus back is 12.20am. The tuk tuk is good fun for £3 per person into town. Overall we enjoyed out stay and I'd mainly reccomend this site for familes and couples looking for a chilled base to stay in Newquay.

we have just returned from hendra not wanting to leave as we were having a great time.the holiday park was spotlessly clean with beautiful surroundings.
There was quite a bit to do for the children we went in the oasis swimming pool which was brilliant kids loved it i evan went down the flumes it was fun.
the entertainment in the clubhouse entertainment for the kids then the adults then bingo we couldnt stay for the caberat as my 3yr old was really tired but we had a great nights entertainment every night.
we did venture outside the camp and did newquay zoo, fistral beach for the day as it was so hot, padstow.
as we was only there monday till friday we couldnt do as much as we wanted but it was great all the same.
we had tea in caravan most of time but we went out to the premier inn resterant once and i really recommend it quite good value lovely food and they evan gave my daughter a goodie bag to keep her amuzed.
we stayed in the sennan range caravan which was very nice but the only negative thing i will say about it is it seemed to smell of cigarettes im a smoker myself but only smoke outside and i could still smell it when we come in think it may be in furniture, but that is the only negative thing.
we did have a great time and will be returning hopefully next year.

i have been on a lot of caravan parks with my family growing up, and hendra is by far the best one i've ever been to. The site was really well looked after and had enough entertainment that you wouldn't even need to leave the place for your entire stay. the highlight being the oasis swimming pools which are great fun! The caravan we stayed in was modern and immaculately clean. I'd recommend hendra to anybody and will definitely be returning.
