“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2008

We stayed and ate here for two nights. Good bar. Good ales and ciders. Flagstone floor. A few too many fruit machines for our liking, but that's just being fussy. Dogs are allowed in the bar and rooms. Food was well priced. Steak and chips sort of stuff. Decent portions. Breakfast was fine. The first room we had looked out over the tiny street and little harbour. It's really lovely. We strolled round the cob on Bonfire Night under the stars and it was really quite beautiful. The second night we were in the new extension to the side of the pub, a dark and pokey family room out the back. Acceptable, but you'd prefer the harbour view. Mousehole is very, very cute with some nice shops for tourists - not your usual tat. The walking here is great. Go inland to Paul, or west back towards Land's End. Avoid Penzance if you can - it's an absolute grot-hole full of pound shops and junkies. You'd never believe you were in Cornwall. The Ship Inn, though, is well worth a stay. It's far from posh but great, nonetheless.

The location is amazing we were 10ft from the harbour wall. Our room was on the top floor and overlooked the harbour. We opened our bedroom window every night and fell asleep to the sound of the waves gently lapping against the harbour beach. Our room was a large double with a sofa and comfy bed with the best sea views! Our bathroom was great again with a sea view if you are lucky enough to be over 5ft 10 .We found the landlord and landlady and all the rest of the staff very welcoming and friendly .
The food was home cooked pub fayre with at least four specials every night, this was simply cooked however very good and portions were huge. Breakfast was a similar story with full english and tea ,coffee, fruit teas ,juice, cereals ,toast etc etc well cooked and lots of it ! A lady from another couple who were staying there at the same time requested kippers for breakfast as she wanted a lighter breakfast, however when the enormous kippers turned up it was not so light after all! Sitting in the lounge in front of the glowing coal fire you are reminded of the maritme history of this pub with pictures of the torrey canyon(sorry don't know if thats right)and other disasters you get a real feeling of community/ loss and of course you really feel that in the bar you are one of the villagers for one day or all of the time you are there.
This is one great place and we will definitly be coming back soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
