“Not the greatest”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

This was a disappointing attraction, the journey there was via some single track roads which may not suit all drivers. Once we were there we discovered that this attraction is located on a very steep hill which wasn't suited to push chairs or disabled guests, to be honest, as an able bodied person I found it hard to get back up the giant hill! The staff are very good and devotees to the cause of saving the monkey population from harm, which is fantastic, their work is renown all over the world. The attraction itself isn't very big and IS a sanctuary NOT a play to play with monkeys, but unfortunately, most of it wasn't easily accessible with the push chair and little people miss out. All in all a fantastic cause with great staff but not the best day out, probably allow no more than an hour here?

“Small and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

Although a small sanctuary, the keepers were more than helpful and i formative about all the monkeys within. The picnic area was an added bonus to spend a little more time relaxing before we left. We love the fact that as we gift aided we can return as often as we like for the next year which is great to keep our toddler amused!

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

The staff are clearly devoted to their work and take time to talk to visitors about all the monkeys in their care.
The gift shop is well stocked and reasonably priced for a tourist attraction.
Although dogs are not allowed in to the sanctuary the car park is nearby with shaded areas so that they can be left for an hour or two (depending on the temperatures) and dogs are allowed to go in to the cafe areas with their owners.
This is not an all day attraction but is a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours whilst helping a good cause.
Access is not brilliant with lots of steps and the site slopes steeply so not the best for disabled or baby buggies but the setting is attractive and the view from the terrace is stunning.

“Absolutely worth a visit if you care about animals”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

I visited with my partner who has been a supporter of the sanctuary for many years, despite never before being able to visist it. It is important to remember the purpose of the place, it is not a zoo, but a sanctuary - for the monkeys. It is a lovely natural setting, in woodland high on the cliffs overlooking the sea. We were probably lucky visisting at the time of year we did, as it was very quiet with only a few visistors, so we were able to spend plenty of time watching all of the monkeys in their different enclosures. For an animal lover who can really appreciate the work being done here, it provides an enjoyable few hours and can also be a great experience for children. We were particularly impressed with the keepers who spend time talking to visitors about each of the monkeys and answering all our questions. At £8 each I would say this is very reasonable, compared to the cost of other zoos, theme parks etc, especially as the money goes to a good cause.

“Great afternoon out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

The monkeys are great to watch, and staff are very helpful and forthcoming with information. There is also a very nice, albeit slightly pricey, cafe.

Only downside is that you don't seem to be able to get there on public transport - it is feasible to walk from Looe, but the coastal path on this bit is less pretty than in the Polperro direction, and it wasn't quite as well signposted as we expected (there were a few bits where we ended up wandering around housing estates lost!).
