A warm reception from Darren and Kim greeted us on arrival, ready to transfer us to our room which we fully appreciated. We'd booked Room 3 billed as "peace and tranquility with a sea view" which is exactly what we got, and beautifully clean and comfortable as seen on their website. D and K only came to Looe in March 2012 but we were soon aware from returning guests that rapid improvements had been made. This included a revised dining room set out in a way that diners can own their own space whilst discussing daily plans and pre-evening ventures with fellow residents. Breakfast is a delight with a choice of traditional English, pescatarian and vegetarian (with/ without smoked salmon), but we advise that you reserve one morning at least for the deliciously creamy porridge without sugar or any other additives. As well as a comfortable conservatory, D and K also provide documentary advice on local restaurants and other facilities. As a result, we were able to enjoy Tuesday folk evening at a local historic pub, the Jolly Sailor (as well as their fine ales and wines). If we ever return to Looe, or asked for accommodation anywhere in Cornwall, we will always recommend Calico first.
