“David and Clive, the Friendliest Landladies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2008

So much praise has been heaped on the Bosaneth Hotel and its proprietors, David and Clive, and all I can say is that every word is justified. When we arrived, a bit puffed because it is uphill from the station, we were offered a pot of tea. In the hallway is a framed certificate that they were among the 20 finalists in the UK-wide "Friendliest Landladies" Competition organised by the AA. The hotel is very attractively furnished and the rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is a delight. The ingredients of the English Breakfast were of the best quality but there was also a choice of kippers or scrambled egg with smoked salmon on a muffin. Over a three night stay I was able to sample the entire menu. They also offer dinner which, on the one occassion we tried it, was the nicest kind of home-cooked food. While David is mostly behind the scenes, Clive is such a helpful front of house manager. He booked tables for the restaurants we wanted to go to locally and, on one occassion, gave us a lift there. On the day we left, Clive gave us and another guest a lift to the bus stop for our onward journeys - a gesture beyond the call of duty. I should mention an excellent restaurant we went to for dinner. It is called The Three Mackerels and it is reached from the Bosaneth by a coastal path with a wonderful vista of Pendennis Castle and the sea.

My wife and I booked 7 nights B&B from the 6-13th June. After a long drive, we found Clive and David to be very good hosts. It has been along time since we stayed in a small hotel such as this, and were surprised at the level of welcome, decor and atmosphere that this place has. It really felt a bit like a home from home. The evening food is of a high standard, but I will say that David was the first to tell me that it was home cooking rather than "fancy stuff". It is local food cooked and prepared to a high standard. We had one evening meal on the Sunday, having a homemade soup, roast beef with the expected, trimmings and apple pie or cheese to finish plus coffee etc. Breakfasts are excellent, with a choice of various fruit and cereals plus a range of cooked breakfasts including kippers etc, but I highly recommend the scrambled egg and smoked salmon on english muffins.

When we stayed there were a mixture of different guests from old to young which was nice.

Location is excellent for the beach (about 200m) and for Falmouth , close enough to walk easily, far enough away for a good nights sleep.

We will definitely be going back.
