“Hotel of many doors!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Stayed one night with my elderly father who was keen to visit Falmouth Maritime museum. Hotel is over 400 yrs old but we had large, beautifully appointed room with wonderful view across harbour. Nice bathroom with accessible shower but yet again nothing to hold on to & staff couldn't locate a non-slip mat to enhance safety for Dad. A power outage put a dampener on breakfast but it was fully refunded. A challenge was the rabbit warren of corridors and fire safety doors which wouldn't be a problem for able bodied travellers. Short walk along waterfront to this gorgeous town.

Room Tip: Harbour view is wonderful.

A fantastic place to stay. The restaurant had lovely views overlooking the harbour and the food was great. We really enjoyed our stay -very relaxing with the boats bobbing up and down. A shame that the service was not as good. The room lacked an information booklet and when I wanted a drink from the mini bar-no bottle opener. The staff were friendly but the added extras were not there! A great place to stay though and we will definitely go back if we get the chance.

Once again I have stayed here on business and once again they have improved on my last visit. The room I had this time was very impressive, it was spacious with a king size bed and tastefully decorated and had a whirlpool bath and separate shower. The best bit was the balcony overlooking Falmouth harbour with stunning views across to Flushing and beyond. The service was its normal high standard friendly and attentive, food top quality and breakfast freshly cooked, with a wide choice. The breakfast room also shared the same view as my balcony which gave a pleasant start to the day.

Stayed in room 125 which is a harbourview room with balcony. Sounds idyllic but the balcony was tiny and covered in seagull 'poo'! They were flying over all the time and even after we asked for it to be cleaned it was soon covered again. As it was so hot would have liked to leave it open at night but again didn't dare - tried one afternoon and ended up with gull poo all down the inside of the balcony door and all over the inside of the curtains so had to leave it closed. As a result the room was baking hot and we couldn't sleep.
I think the room was £190 or £195 per night which I think is a bit high - did include breakfast which is you like a full English did look good. We just had poached eggs on toast and tea which was good. Service slow on the second morning but we weren't in a hurry so didn't matter.

The hotel itself was nice although the corridors are very long and narrow with lots of small staircases and it was quite difficult getting the bags to our room as we were near the end of the building. Good bar with small terrace and the restaurant looked great, overlooking the harbour, although we didn't eat there as we were meeting friends off a cruise ship for lunch and dinner.

The staff were all great - the ones I spoke to. Very friendly and helpful and you can forgive a lot when people are so nice.

Parking was a bit limited but we eventually managed to find a space on both days so that was OK

Room Tip: I would ask for a harbour view with window rather than balcony so it could be left open for fresh ai...

We stayed for 3 nights with an Amazon deal. We were upgraded to a harbour view room, without asking, which was excellent and treated to a bottle of wine and a card during our stay, as it was my birthday - a lovely touch. Parking could have been a problem, but if you ask at Reception there is an underground car park which was never full. Food , both at dinner and breakfast, was excellent and the view from the dining room is stunning. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. I would have given an 'Excellent' rating except for the lack of air con and also the very slow bar service on each night of our stay. Best not to order a cocktail before dinner, although they are delicious, unless you are preperaed to wait around 30 minutes to receive it. We will certainly be back!

Room Tip: Book a harbour view room, or you will really miss out!

My family attended a wedding at the hotel and decided to book a room for the night, from the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and the wedding went amazingly well.
We had a family room overlooking the river across to Flushing....what a view to wake up to! The room itself was very large, a lot larger than most hotel rooms we have stayed in, and very well decorated.

Stayed here on 20 July 2013 as a wedding guest. Wedding lunch was fine, but our room - 134 - was terrible. Spacious but souless and overlooked a wall! Also very close to the breakfast room with the door constantly banging. Very poor value for the hefty price we paid. Staff were excellent throughout the wedding and contributed to the success of the day. We went to bar much later and were met with a very surly barman who could seriously use some lessons in how to treat customers, ok it was late but that was his job! I did see some of the rooms overlooking the harbour and the view is amazing, but I was left feeling quite ripped off with our view of the wall.

Room Tip: If you can afford a small fortune get a harbour view room.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. I am sorry that you did not enjoy all of your time here at the Greenbank but pleased that the wedding went well. I have personally inspected room 134 and found it to be spotlessly clean although it is one of our inland facing rooms and does look over the road to the trees and wall opposite. We are careful not to claim that our inland facing rooms have any particular view so apologise if you expected something different. I would like to say that it is only £10 to upgrade to a Harbour Facing room but hope you enjoyed the views from the wedding room during the day.
