“Overnight Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We had an overnight stay with two rooms and were visiting for the university open day. I believe the Guesthouse had exchanged hands the day before. The new owners were very welcoming on our arrival and helpful. When going to our rooms they one was a little compact and both were a little old fashioned. However, they were very clean and had everything you needed. There was some traffic noise as we were on the front, but not too much of a problem. Beds were a little hard and we had to request extra pillows. We did ask for a nice full breakfast and needed it promptly as we had an early start at the uni. Breakfast was a little unorganised and chaotic and there were no menus, so was not sure what we could have. Tea was very weak and the toast we asked for was the wrong one, instead of white we got brown and the sausages were missed off the breakfast, but were brought along later. Have to the say the breakfast was rather disappointing, but they made up for this with enthusiasm. I think the new owners will learn and get a lot better in time to come. So overall a comfortable stay, but needs a little work.

Dear Hobbsy1964,

Thank you for your post and your honest comments which I would like to answer, now that we're a little more settled.

I'm sorry that breakfast was a little chaotic. yes it was our first day at Camelot but that's no excuse when you're looking forward to a breakfast, especially as I'd told you about the sausages the night before and then forgot to put them on the plate. Sorry again!

Let me say what we are doing with immediate effect.

The breakfast is being upgraded. The sausages and bacon are from the local butcher who only buys from local Cornish farms, with tomatoes and mushrooms from the greengrocer who also only selects produce from local suppliers and growers. We only use branded condiments, as there's nothing better that Heinz Tomato and HP Sauces.

All the bedrooms will now have White 100% Pure Cotton 230 Thread Count Bedding, with White Fluffy Towels in all the bathrooms.

I hope the delay with the breakfast didn't make you late and I hope to see you again in the future. A better breakfast guaranteed!

Simon
