“Pleasant stay but a bit dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2010 via mobile

The rooms are ok but bathrooms grubby. Breakfast good buy service slow. Staff generally very friendly. Indoor pool facilities are much better than the photos do it justice.

Could not be more helpful, from day one to our wedding ,Jayne was met outside by Neil the manager and was ushered with her dad inside to me ,our guest and the registrar who conducted the ceremony . After we went into the garden for drinks and the photos ,after we went in for the wedding breakfast and the speaches, the food was great and plenty of it ,in the evening we had a disco until midnight .Once again the evening buffet was great and plenty of it .We stayed the night four poster bed very comfortable , and a jacuzzi . In the morning we had a great breakfast . The staff were all very friendly and nothing was to much trouble from the manager to waiters & waitresses, all our family and friends also praised the staff and the food no complaints from anyone thank you all very much Jayne & john Penfold

Stayed for three nights while doing some family history research in the area. The room was light and airy with a really comfortable bed. This hotel has lots of character and really nice lounge areas so you are not confined to your bedroom. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A little bit pricey but if you want to feel at home this is the place.

We had a party of 50 people who all thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Hotel staff were extremely helpful, food great and nothing too much trouble for anyone. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

We enjoyed a short break at Green Lawns over Easter. It is in a good location between the beaches in Falmouth and the town-each taking about 10 minutes to reach although the walk back is very uphill! The dining room and lounge are in very attractive rooms, the former with a view of the sea. In general the common parts are a bit dated but the rooms are spacious and well appointed and we had a balcony and jaccuzzi bath which were a bonus. There were a few housekeeping issues inlcuding a spring in our bed which stuck out but they were dealt with as soon as we raied them. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent-no congealing buffet but freshly cooked from top ingredients with a wide menu. We had dinner one night whichwas also very good. Although the hotel boasts a spa, it is dated and does not live up to other spas in hotels I have visited although the pool was pleasant to use.
In all we had a very pleasant stay at Green Lawns and it was superb value for money.

This is our 3rd stay at this hotel in 4 months and the staff are excellent - friendly, very accommodating and 'go that extra mile' without being creepy. The pace is typical Cornwall - easy going, timeless and quality - give yourself plenty of time and expect your evening meal to take all evening - and it enjoy. Yes I agree that some of the rooms are a little dated but they are lovely and clean. Hard bed - good for some - but not us!
On this visit however, the food - which has been superb, was not of the expected standard. I refer to previous comments where food was always cooked to order - not this time - breakfast - full English was mediocre however smoked haddock excellent - and vegetables at dinner were a little tired. Something has changed re the catering since our previous visit and in our opinion, not for the better.
Would still return as we feel this is a little gem. The only disappointement of our whole stay - was eating at Rick Steins fish & chips - NEVER again.

We stayed because we were attending a function and got the "special rate" because of that. The hotel is ok, the decor is a bit tired and the bathrooms could do with a freshen up. It is all clean and tidy, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is simply nothing special about it. I cannot see us choosing this hotel again especially if it meant paying more than the rate we did. (£70).
