Although described as a hotel the Broadmead is in reality just a bed & breakfast. We arrived in the afternoon and no-one was at home so we wandered around town for a while before going back to try again. The owner, Peter, greeted us quite warmly and after checking in he showed us to our rooms. I had requested a ground floor twin room for my elderly parents and that is what they got, the room was quite clean apart from greasy spots on the headboards from peoples hair, they need to put covers on the headboards to take care of that, with an ensuite bathroom which although small was adequate for a three day trip.
Next morning we turned up for breakfast, choices were fruit, cereal and a cooked breakfast of your choice from a menu. We opted for the full english which was delicious, nice to see a place like this opting for good bacon & sausage, not the usual cheaper stuff offered by other establishments of the same type. During breakfast the owner was very attentive, making sure everyone was provided with tea/coffee and an abundant supply of toast.
All in all we had a good stay there, the location is not far from the centre of town although some older people may not like the walk back up a hill. Parking is onsite, small but we made out ok.
Definitely a recommended place to stay.
