I couldn't decide whether to go for 3 or 4 stars for this review; our night was a very mixed bag! I had booked a table for 10 to celebrate my 27th birthday and I had heard wonderful things about this place. We weren't greeted on arrival, which left us wandering around looking for our own table, only to find other people were sitting at it (NEGATIVE). Then, we were left for about twenty minutes without anyone asking if we wanted to order a drink, so we gave up and ordered for ourselves at the bar (NEGATIVE).
When the waitress (Saqi) came to take our order, she was friendly and helpful and the whole table warmed to her immediately (POSITIVE). However, there was a mix up with our order and one member was left waiting for 10 minutes for his food (NEGATIVE). However, the staff held their hands up, apologised for the mistake and offered to take his meal off the bill AND give him a free drink (VERY POSITIVE!) Also, the food was DELICIOUS (VERY POSITIVE).
I was ready to give a 4 star review at this point, until it took half an hour for the plates from our main course to be cleared (NEGATIVE). We weren't in a hurry or anything, but you'd rather not sit and look at dirty plates for 30 minutes!
Despite the wait, we decided to give the desserts a go and they were absolutely DELICIOUS (VERY POSITIVE). I would highly recommend the waffle dessert - yum yum!
To be honest, I got the impression that the problems we experienced came from the fact that they were completely under-staffed for a busy Thursday night; we only counted 3 members of staff (waiting on AND behind the bar) and the pub was pretty full! Our waitress (Saqi) was cheerful and helpful throughout, though, which we much appreciated.
Overall, food was flawless but service was mixed due to under-staffing. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would!
