“Super hotel in great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2010

Stayed here for one night, to visit Chester for a couple of days. The room was very modern and spotlessly clean with a super kingsize bed, minibar, tea/coffee and little extras such as a good sleep kit! The sleep kits consists of a spray for the pillow and a lavender roll on oil for the pulse points...it works!! The bathroom was very clean too and the shower very good.
We headed round exeter for a few hours and decided to have dinner in the hotel...very good choice, I had dipping breads then a gammon joint...very nice indeed and the service was efficient and friendly. Had a great nights sleep and heard no noise in the hotel during the night. We had breakfast, the next morning, which offered lots of choice with some rather nice crossiants too!!...it was self service, apart from the tea and coffee which were delivered without delay. We had a lovely stay, in this hotel, and a lovely visit to Chester. The hotel is literally round the corner from the shops, so location could not be better!!

My partner and I stayed at the Crown Plaza following a night out in Chester. When we booked my partner e-mailed and asked for a quiet room. The room we were given was lovely. Clean, very spacious, quiet and with lots of little extras (magazines, bath robes slippers, bottled water and nice toiletries). The service was efficient and friendly. Shame you can't check in until 3pm and that you have to pay for the car parking though. Nevertheless my partner and I loved our room so much we stayed until the 12.00 checkout ! We will definitely be going back there and would highly reccommend to others.

the place to stay if you want to park the car in chester and enjoy the place, car park a little hard to find ,( if you pass hotel entrance carry on past the council car park to the end and you will find the hotel ramp to the hotel) very pleasent staff, use the spa ,just walk out of the hotel turn right down an alley and you are on the high street of chester , great italian on lower eastgate street.

We went for 3 nights without our children! As I am disabled (though we did not need a special room) proximity to the city centre was crucial and this hotel was ideal. It is a business hotel, and you can come and go avoiding reception, so there is a functional feel to the place. The staff when asked were extremely helpful, booking restaurants and taxis efficiently and courteously. We ate out throughout so cannot vouch for the food though the breakfast appears expensive as there are a number of cafes very close by. Eating out within the City walls is great value and there is plenty of choice - all three evening meals were excellent. We used the spa facility every day for a swim; and my wife enjoyed a massage. The pool is quite small (c. 10m) but adequate and clean. It allowed us to indulge in breakfast/brunch out afterwards!
Chester is lovely. Apart from racing, there is good shopping (though all shopping centres seem to have the same chains), an interesting Cathedral both historic and modern (nice refectory), a gentle boat trip (30 mins in Spring with 2 hour option in Summer) and the peerless walls to walk round. There are also some museums. You could do it all in a day bit 2 clear days was much more relaxed. A lovely place for a break.

When we arrived I was horrified as the hotel looks awful from the outside. Then they had not made up a bed for my son so I was a little displeased but this all soon changed as wesettled in and appreciated the warm atmosphere and excellent staff. The bed was made up immediately . We had a lovely bar meal and an early night. The clever reading light meant I could read while my son slept undisturbed . The next morning after a great sleep we really enjoyed the pool and spa area and I will definitely book a treatment next time! We all felt very relaxed !

We came for a weekend away to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday.

Good location and handy to park, great rooms which have everything you need.
Best of all you are right in the centre, we ate out both nights but had breakfast each morning.
For the size of the hotel they have a very large buffet breakfast and do very good omelets to order.

Only snag would be the keycards which failed twice but the concierge Maurice was very helpful.

Great weekend all in all.

As someone who travels a lot for business, I found this hotel to be everything it said it was and more.

Rooms recently refurbished. Beds v comfy. Room provisions excellent.
Complimentary upgrade on the very first time I stayed there.
Leisure facilities good. Restaurant good. Staff extremely pleasant.

Have now stayed a couple of times for work - the hotel has never been particularly busy which probably explains the excellent value for money.

I would recommend this to anyone. A lovely hotel.
