“Afternoon coffee and cake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

Had been around the Cathedral in the morning and the refractory looked so good we returned after finishing walking around Chester. Good atmosphere, excellent and out of the ordinary cakes. Very friendly staff with added bonus of profits to the Cathedral (very good gift shop next door)

“disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

called in for a lunchtime snack following a good lunch on a previous visit. Ordered Welsh Rarebit at a considerable cost of £5.95. What was served was two pieces of toasted bread with a tiny salad and small pieces of 'crispy bacon'. The local chutney was less than a spoonful. The cheese topping appeared greasy and pale, with the edge of the toast being burnt. Very unappetising and returned without trying. Expensive and poor quality considering that I have recently eaten in a main course in a French brasserie opposite the Tower of London for only £9.95. I asked that the cost of the meal went towards the upkeep of the cathedral.

“Unusual place for a cuppa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

It was beautiful in here. The stained glass windows are very attractive. We had a brownie, biscuits and tea and all was 5*. Not terribly expensive either considering the unusual surroundings.

“Don't order the sausage with onion baguette!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

Lovely atmosphere to sit and eat lunch in. Unfortunately we made a bad choice from the menu. Sausage and onion baguette. Hardly any sausage with lashings and lashings of onions, good if you like onions! Pot of tea at £2.50 is excessive and didn't go far.
