“Don't book when it's busy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

My wife booked a family table for 6pm for a Father's Day meal, 7 adults and 3 children under six. We arrived at about 5.50 to be told that our table wasn't ready so we were seated in the very cramped lounge area. At about 6.40 our table was ready, seats not clean, view of some skips heaving with rubbish. Long wait for our food, kids very bored and restless, generally not a good spec. When the food eventually arrived it was very good though not as stated in the menu. Veg was substituted for whatever was available. No vanilla ice cream available for dessert. No one runs out of vanilla, but they did.. I'd go again but not when it is expected to be busy. Some serious attention required here, this is not a cheap restaurant but the management are not up to it. As ever, the serving staff are very attentive and enthusiastic.

“Nice lunch but not spectacular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

I think it was a busy day for this venue with it being a busy sunny race day .. The staff were really friendly & helpful but the food wasn't amazing , Chester has a lot of fine restaurants to choose from & I was left a little disappointed , would like to visit on another day to see if it's any different but I was definitely expecting a better experience

“NICE EATING PLACE WITH ATMOSPHERE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

Had a delicious Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas here and it was delicious. Restaurant was busy as it was Chester Rocks weekend but very pleasant to be amongst. Seating Outside as well.

We booked as it was a busy weekend at the Racecourse.

“Great Experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

After a long non-productive day at Chester races, the white horse pub & restaurant seemed the ideal day to round off our day.
It is located within the boundaries of the racecourse,so no taxi fares required.
On arrival we were met by our restaurant manager, who shepparded us to the bar lounge for drinks while our table was prepared.
The menu has a wide range of starters,main courses & deserts,Starters average around £ 4,50 while mains range from £ 10.00- £18.00
Drinks are ordered through your table waiter/ess & meals were delivered in good time.
Would recommend the steak £ 14,95 (very filling for even a greedy guy like myself.
The restaurant itself is spacious & airey, with a retractable roof section that you can sit & eat almost al-fresco spanish style.
For those wanting a non-formal drink & food, there is a outside bar & bbq counter within the beer garden, this serves, hotdogs, burgers, chicken served with chips & salad on large platters, presented with a touch of class.
The beer garden is very smart with one of the nicest kids areas i have come across.
Again even this area has a touch of class about it.
All in All a great place to eat & unwind after a hectic day at the races.
