“Duck race”

The river Dee is quite messy with a lot of debris, but the walks along the river are lovely, you can watch the rowers etc, nice pubs.

“River cruise”

Just do it. Recommend this as a quick way of learning a little bit more about Chester's history. Duck race added to our excitement

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

The river Dee front is such a great walk, or a place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Pick a nice day if you can. Excellent restaurants and ice cream/refreshments along the front and a you can walk both sides of the river by crossing the very old Handbridge and returning over the suspension bridge. Have a pint or a glass of wine, and take a boat trip if you want to see more of the river.

“Rowing along the river”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We made the most of the weather and set out along the river in rowing boats (tip: don't buy an ice-cream for the first rower)

Teenagers don't make great oarsmen and with six of us we had to get two boats. Cheshire looks spectacular from the water and there was a jazz-band in the bandstand overlooking the water.

Take snacks to bribe the teenagers to persuade them to row home in time

If you hire two boats a race is required to prove who's best.

Despite being pretty wide, a river is rarely wide-enough for novice rowers
