Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights with my sister for a relaxing spa break. After visiting multiple spas, we chose to stay at this hotel as a new spa opened in September this year.
Could not fault the hotel, I have stayed in 4* and 5* hotels with work and this hotel beats many of them. Rooms clean and comfortable, food in both Nelsons bar and Ciros Brasserie - Excellent along with the staff. (Particular mention to Ruth, Duty Manager)
We booked a number of treatments at the Karma Spa and were very much looking forward to them. They were indeed fabulous and the therapists also. There was a breakdown in communication between the main reception and the spa reception over a simple request we had placed during our stay which was not resolved. The times that I had chosen for treatments had been changed and we weren't informed, however, we did receive our treatments at a later time. We were told by the spa manager that we would receive tea - we are still waiting. Heated seat in Rasul was not working and also jacuzzi was not working for the two days we were there. This was intended to be a relaxing break and we were certainly not as relaxed as we had hoped when we left. I know this spa is newly opened, but please, there was no excuse for the poor handling of our request. We found the spa manager very rude and it was apparent that she underwent no customer service training. The attention to detail is lacking severely. It may operate more smoothly if managed correctly.
I am disappointed to have marked my overall experience down, but all things taken into consideration during our stay, and comparing the experience with the spa to others we have enjoyed, then this is a fair representation of how we felt upon departing.

  • Liked — Food and hotel staff!!
  • Disliked — Customer service (or lack of it) from the spa manager - What a shame.

We stayed here for 1 night and had a lovely room (although it was a little hot).

The restaurant brasseria was really really good. Lovely tapas style food. Heartily recommend the seafood tagliatelle (which was better than my seafood skewers!).

Didn't get time to use the spa but would guess it to be good.

comfortable hotel, some miles from chester but there is a "park and ride" facility about 2 miles away. Room was "executive" so was large and comfortable but there were a lot of corridoors and staircases to get there. The wifi was poor and the hotel's pc seems to have blocked
hotmail! The bar food was good with pleasant service. The dining room was stuffy and overpriced. The breakfast was average buffet style.

after reading reviews booked hotel for 2 nights for hubby's 40th birthday weekend. loved location of hotel, setting is romantic and easy to drive or get park and ride into chester. 1st night ate in cicero's and food was excellent. breakfasts were above average too. we had room one. as booked on cheap deal it was prob smallest room, wardrobe tiny, tv very low and old hairdryer!!! but gorgeous bathroom well stocked. we also found heat from bathroom too much but room was ground level and outside room was courtyard, so it was roast or listen to chatter!!! lucky the fountain was soothing!! top tip when eating don't sit in conservatory area for meals as in evening and first morning breakfast service was poor inspite of the decent amount of staff around. 2nd breakfast sat in main area and tea and toast arrived prompt. i think others may have mentioned how late they were delivered the morning before. breakfast best choice i've had in a hotel and was hot and well cooked. didn't use spa area but checked it out and wished we'd had time to use it but chester itself was so amazing we got back too late as wanted to changed and eat. bar area lovely and comfy. really a lovely place to feel pampered and special. worth the 31/2hr drive to get there. look forward to returning (as long as not room 1!!!!).

  • Liked — low level building set in huge grounds, peaceful location
  • Disliked — lack of wardrobe space.

My husband and I had a overnight stay at the Grosvenor Pulford. The standards were above average throughout. We had a very nice executive room with excellent bathroom facilities. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The gardens are really lovely.

We ate in Nelsons (the bar area) and considering the hotel describe it as 'bar food' if was superb quality and very reasonably priced. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

The location of the Pulford is also very good. In a beautiful rural setting with a riding school behind it and it's only a short car journey into the centre of Chester.

The only two negatives - our room was very hot even with the windows open all night and the breakfast could best be described as lukewarm.

Having said that I would definitely stay at the Pulford again without hesitation.
