“Must see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

If you're in Chester, Grosvenor park is a jewel in the crown. Manicured lawns and flower beds, some old ruins too. It's an oasis in the city. Very close to the river too. The little train is great for small kids, but a bit pricey for what it is. The squirrels are very friendly and will take nuts from the palm of your hand, much to the amusement of our 19 month old son. I also proposed to my wife here, by the statue a few years ago.

“Lovely park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Went for a walk through the park on Sunday morning. Lots of squirrels around and they're very tame. I'm sure they would take food from your hand. There's a paved area that overlooks the river, which is nice if there's something going on. Lots of rhododendrons in flower. The nice thing about this park is that it's very accessible and you are still in the middle of Chester.

“Lovely park - well kept and impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Grosvenor Park is a Chester stalwart and must see. During my visit it was in full bloom with flowers, bird, trees, squirrels and ruins in their prime. It's a pretty, peaceful place.

“Hasn't changed much in 30 odd years which ain't a bad thing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Took my son at Easter as he'd been doing some Roman history at school and I remembered visting myself in my primary school years some 30+ years ago

Easy to find, free to access and they had an exhibition of artwork on at the time we went. Some of the exhibits are a bit dated but on the whole it is still very interesting.

I like looking at the older artwork plus the vast collections of silverware which must be a nightmare to protect

The giftshop was fairly well stocked and not as "in your face" as some I've visited

I wouldn't visit Chester solely to see this museum and would do it as part of a day's visit which we did (also visiting the amphitheatre and having a walk on the walls too)

“Victorian Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

There's a little train that runs around the park in the summer which is a much loved attraction for the children. Very reasonably priced as well.
