“Bee and Pee at its best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

My wife and I have visited many B and P establishments in the North West and earlier this month we went to Aldford for the first time.

'Outstanding' is the simplest way to describe it. I think we can probably say that we have never been disappointed at any B and P pub in the past but we have now put Aldford at the top of our list.

Although it was a cold, miserable day we chose to sit in the Conservatory which was warm and welcoming. It has fabulous views over the garden.

The quality of service from the very attentive staff could not be faulted and we ordered and were served promptly. One of our favorite dishes is B and P's Fish and Chips and my wife chose the smaller portion under the heading ' Smaller things for children'. We would suggest that if you don't want to be overwhelmed by portion size then go for that alternative - don't be shy to ask! The portion was ideal and much enjoyed. I went for the ham and eggs but asked for a side salad rather than chips. It was perfect. We finished our excellent lunch with coffee.

I was very impressed to see that there was no additional charge for my salad. I know of a number of restaurants that would have charged, although I did not have the chips.

So, in summary it was a very enjoyable experience. We shall certainly go back to Aldford again.

“A beautiful country pub with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Now this is what we want. The Grosvenor Arms is an impressive looking country pub located in the small village of Alford just outside Chester. It has plenty of car parking available and a very attractive terraced area at the rear overlooking gardens. In summer this must be fabulous to sit outside. This pub was highly recommended by a work colleague for Sunday lunch and he strongly advised booking a table in advance because the pub does get busy. So we made a reservation and have now visited twice for Sunday lunch. This place is the real deal. It is gorgeous inside, quite large with several dining areas surrounding a large bar area including a conservatory. The food is top notch and very well prepared. This is high end pub fare with a very strong focus on food quality and customer satisfaction. The pub therefore does get busy so booking ahead is essential to avoid disappointment. For us, this is now very much a top choice for a very satisfying pub meal in a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. Enjoy with confidence.
