From the first point of contact with Diane at Carden Historic Cottages when I rang to book a short break the level of customer care and communication was excellent - this high level of service continued throughout our stay and we were fortunate to have had the opportunity whilst there to meet with the owner and then visit and hear of the other beautiful cottages that she has so lovingly restored.
We had all wanted to stay at Brassey's as during our celebratory week we had first stayed in a Penthouse in York and then a Scottish Castle in Edinburgh. We felt that a stay in a 300-400 year old cottage would conclude our week of family celebration prior to making our way back home to Devon.
The cottage was rather quirky which made it all the more special and its tranquil setting, surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and a lake, was perfect although still within a short 10 minute drive to Malpas and only a 30 minute drive into Chester. We all agreed that we needed to have had a much longer stay to explore and take advantage of everything that was available - including the free Leisure passes to Carden Park Hotel and Spa that was only a few minutes drive away.
The welcome pack on arrival was most appreciated especially the chocolates and champagne - after all we had been celebrating a 40th birthday.
I also re-learnt and enjoyed an old forgotten skill - lighting a fire; only this time in a woodburner for which all fuel was provided.
Would thoroughly recommend and we looking forward to coming back.
Ease of booking and level of customer care plus the comfy sofas, beds, real fire, chocolates and champagne
