“Brilliant for all ages”

A well marked trail with lots to see and talk about. Good for children and very well supported by a charitable trust.

“Uphill and down dale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2015

I haven't walked such distances for a number of years because of injury. this was the perfect distance. We divided the trail into three days. The views over the River Weaver and the Mersey were spectacular. Walking the Shropshire Union Canal at the end was so relaxing especially the beer and chips at the Willeymoor Lock. We missed the waymarker at one point on the last day but managed to find the canal. There are very few road to cross and most of the walk is spent across fields and on hills in woodland. The route crosses different farming areas so the range of crops was interesting. We saw buzzards and heard woodpeckers. A great three days!

“Amazing views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2015

I'm walking the trail a bit at a time as I don't want to wear myself out so much that I don't enjoy the views and experience generally. I'm almost finished now and as long as you have transport and the free Trail Guide maps it isn't hard to find places to park for each section. The views are amazing and walking each section in both directions doesn't seem like a waste of time as there is so much to see. It is well signposted and generally the paths are easy to follow. You need to take your own food and drink as it doesn't go directly past many shops, pubs or cafes. A note of caution - I passed through Larkton Hall Farm recently and there were a lot of loose cows in the farmyard.

“Something For Everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2015

The Sandstone Trail around Beeston has a lot of Circular walks of varying degrees of difficulty. Its worth buying a book (search for Sandstone Trail on one of the book websites). The all round views are spectacular on a clear day and there are 2 or 3 decent hostelries to base from and enjoy some refreshment after a good day out
