“Pretty little racecourse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

My favourite, always enjoy this racecourse much better than its bigger rivals. Pretty course, great location, you can get very close to the riders and horses as well as the action, Grandstands not overpriced, lots of places for a picnic if that's your thing. Watch from "The Walls" if you dont want the full experience.

The only downside is that due to its popularity the local hoteliers can jack up their prices to silly levels during meetings, but I suppose that just reflects supply and demand if they can fill occupancy at those rates.

“When the sun shines you cant beat it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Great atmosphere. Drinks not too outrageously priced. Food choice limited so eat before or after, its what most people do. You can get right up close to the track still on hard surface. In sunny weather I have always got sunburn so beware!

“Great day out - will be returning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Went here with friends and it was really good, the bar that is on the right as you arrive is packed so go and find another as there are plenty around. We sat in the centre of the race track, there are screens up everywhere so you can see what's going on, plenty of places to bet and staff were friendly and helpful.

“A good day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

We visited the races on a lovely sunny day in August (how lucky was that this year!) and just paid the basic entrance fee. As we were in Chester for a weekend stay we didn't take our own picnic as we had on other occasions and the food available is the standard burgers, hot dogs, fish, chips etc. Plenty drinks available but at £4 for a glass of Black Tower wine which is under a fiver a bottle in the supermarket its a rip off so take your own. There is a big screen so you can watch the start and end of the race easily after the horses have dashed past the area you are in. If you want to be nearer the finish line you need to pay to go in one of the other stands but if you just want a basic day at the races this is fine, We have been a couple of times now and enjoyed it, even more so as I finished the day £20 up!!

“Family Fun Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

It's a great day out but the majority of it is outdoors so you are relying on good weather conditions, unless you can take your own marquee.
There's a variety of attractions for children, fairground rides etc. Usually around six or seven horse races.
It's always packed on Family fun day!
This year however the races came to an end after the third race due to a heavy downpour of rain, well more like a flash flood, which water-logged the course.
You can park in the grounds but you are parked on grass and the downpour made it difficult for the tyres to grip.
Anyway I have rated it high because it is a good day out for the family, just make sure that you look at the weather forecast before you set off. Tickets can be purchased on the day at the course.
