What a lovely place to stop over after an arduous windy walk over Rawhead.
Soup of the highest quality ingredients followed by a generous half portion of pink mussels with a rich cream sauce and fine garnish.
There are a fair amount of "Gastro Pubs" in the immediate area but fine comfortable decor and surrounding commanding Cheshire views and top quality service prevail to set this venue apart from the others in the area.
Impressive attractive venue with an excellent sophisticated menu.
Good Staff

Room Tip: Only dined at lunch time passing thru but would imagine rooms would be good.

I really love this place. The food is consistently good & the menu is great too. The selection of real ales is something I look forward to each time too.

I last visited on a Saturday afternoon with my wife & 7 year old daughter. The food was absolutely superb - fresh, perfectly cooked & absolutely delicious. Even the food served to my daughter was as fresh interesting as the food for the grown-ups. Nice touch guys. Once very pleased little girl.

I look forward to returning again soon. Hopefully not being the driver this time!!

I visited the Pheasant Inn with my family last weekend and as a coeliac, I was really happy to be well catered for! The chef came out to talk me through gluten free menu options. There was lots of choice and I felt confident that the meal was carefully prepared and totally gluten free. The meal was delicious! I will definitely return :)

Stayed overnight on way north. Meal was good pub food. We were in the Carden room with no view and accessed from the dining area. However a good room with lots of character. The Inn looks out over the Cheshire Plain and we could see Liverpool Cathedral many miles away. The welcome was good, the staff helpful the Inn comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
If I were coming to stay I would chose a room with a view and come in the summer to sit outside in the sun (British weather willing) and stare at the view. Same applies if coming for a meal.

Room Tip: If I were coming to stay I would chose a room with a view and come in the summer to sit outside in t...

We first discovered The Pheasant when we were staying somewhere else near Chester, but wanted to find a pub that was dog friendly. My daughter and son-in-law, who were staying with us in a cottage, came back one afternoon and told us they'd found a perfect place to eat and drink and the rest, as they say, is history. So this October we headed back to stay for our third consecutive year, this time for 5 nights. You somehow know when a place has got it right by the fact that you are greeted and served by the same staff you met the year before. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The breakfast is always top notch with plenty of variety and food in the evening is delicious, fresh and good value. Eastgate bitter has become a firm favourite and the wines, although a little on the pricey side, are of high quality. And our dog? Well he is always made very welcome and loves his walks on the Sandstone Trail every day. As Arnie says, "we'll be back!"

I'd passed the Pheasant Inn a couple of times without getting the chance to go in, so when I got the excuse to book a table in the area I didn't hesitate to go for the Pheasant, and I'm so glad that we did. What a gem of a place, with a warm welcome., the fire probably helped. The food was the best pub grub I've ever had and the steak and ale pie was the best. Although stuffed, I had to make sure that I finished it all!! Next time we'll be back for a stay over, as the small country lanes were not the best for driving back in the dark. Hopefully there will be a room available to stay next time.
