My boyfriend & I booked to stay in this hotel for my birthday and we had a Silverfox voucher to get 2 nights for the price of 1. We phoned the hotel directly to book it & received a confirmation letter that we had a superior double room reserved. We phoned again to check the rate & were told it was £60 for the Friday & £80 for the Saturday. With our 2 for 1 voucher we were expecting to pay £80 for our weekend.

When we arrived the room we were given was absolutely tiny! We were not even convinced the bed was a double. To make matters worse 1 side of the room had a sloping ceiling so you could only stand on 1 side of the room. There wasn't even a wardrobe to hang our clothes. To get in the bathroom you had to squeeze in then shut the door to be able to get to the sink or shower. When we went down to reception to ask if we were in the wrong room (bearing in mind we'd been promised a superior double) we were told there were no other rooms available & that we wouldn't notice the difference even if they did move us.

When we checked out we were told our bill was £109. Apparently this is the rate they charge if you have a 2 nights for 1 voucher (surely not 2 nights for the price of 1 then?!) We explained that this was a bit steep for the room we were in & it was agreed we would pay £98, which was the price of a standard double.

For what this hotel is we thought it was very over priced. On the plus side, thankfully our room was reasonably clean, the breakfasts were good and on the whole the staff were pleasant. It's a good location for getting into Chester but with plenty of hotels/guesthouses on this road I would be tempted by one of the others next time, which I'm sure would be the same quality for much cheaper.

This is more of a motel than a hotel. The hotel is ideally placed for a stay in Chester. However, the room stank of cigerette fumes and I had to clean my own toilet as it was dirty when I arrived. My friend also had some one else boxer shorts on the floor when we arrived. Not Good

We stayed at this hotel on the 23rd of March for one night as we were visiting Chester for the day. After checking in, we went to our room to drop our things of and after a quick glance it was lovely.

When we returned from the zoo we went back to the room and just relaxed as we were really tired. The rooms are just the right size for tourists and comfortable. The bed was nice. Neither it or the pillows were hard enough for my liking but I'm very fussy when it comes to beds and pillows. I still slept well though. Bathroom was fine and there was plenty of storage space if you were staying more than one night. Breakfast was lovely and even though they didn't have beans on the breakfast menu, I asked for beans on toast and they were happy to do this for me. The full fry up looked lovely too. Toast was provided and the staff were lovely.

The location was good too. It was too far to walk into Chester city centre as far as I was concerned, but on a nice day when it was a bit warmer you could easily do it in 20 minutes. There was always a taxi to be found though and prices were reasonable.

The only problem we had was that we couldn't get the radiator in the room to heat up but it wasn't that cold anyway, especially after we'd had our pizzas delivered to our room!!

Overall we'd definitely stay here again as it was very comfortable and the prices were acceptable.

  • Liked — The service and willingness to accomodate
  • Disliked — The fact that we couldn't figure out how to turn the heating on in the room!

I stayed at this hotel and what I loved about it was that as a motel style it felt more private. It is ideally located for Chester not to near but equally not far at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit the lovely historical Chester!!!

This place was very dirty. I doubt they have ever cleaned the carpet & the fan in the shower was never been cleaned.

he owners were unpleasant and put out when I asked how to get to town. They tell you it is a 10-15 minute walk, but they must run the whole way, it is more like 30 minutes to walk. The walk is fine, but it is confusing when you get closer to the city as there are no signs into the city center.

The night person was very nice, but the resturant server in the morning was cranky.

Overall a rather unpleasant experience.

We pride ourselves on high standards and good value. We were awarded **** by the AA and Welcome Host accreditation which together assures guests of our quality standards.

The hotel had recently been refurbished throughout and the carpet and fan in the shower were virtually brand new when this guest stayed.

All rooms including carpets and shower fans are cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis

We always state that that it is a 20 min walk into the city centre and would never say less.

If the guest is older we would advise that it may take them longer.

Being less than a mile from the city centre it is a 15 min walk at the average walking speed of 4 miles per hour.

We always give directions which are very simple as we are on one of the main roads into the city centre which is adequately signposted.

It is clear from the comments that this guest would have preferred a city centre hotel rather than one with a 20 min walk.

Why do some people write malicious lies.

What do they hope to achieve.
