“Nice short break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2011

we booked the westminster as a last minute getaway and found it good value for what we paid. The room was clean and good size, however the bath room was very compact. You could sit on the toilet and shower at the same time. The matress was passed its best and i found it uncomfortable.
The breakfast was plentiful with good selection and the staff helpfull, attenative and politie. There was a free bar 5pm-7pm for 2 nights of our stay with a good selection of drinks.
It could be a bit noisy late at night and early in the morning due to the busy road and a bus stop out side.
The is parking at the Queens hotel which charges £10 per 24hrs, there is parking on the street which is free after 6pm till 8am, which we found ok.

We stayed here for a romantic get away in October half term. It looked like a lovely hotel with friendly staff, a very central location and ideal if you were visiting off the train. We couldnt' find local cheap parking, so had to get up at 8am to put money in the local pay and display. Having said all that, the beautiful old bed was a bit rickety / noisy and the heating didnt work, and we could hear doors and neighbouring rooms too. When we asked about the heating out we were given a broken fan heater. Eventually we were delivered a working fan heater, but not until several hours later. Although we got this room at a discounted last minute price, for such a lovely hotel otherways you would expect a working heating system! I'm just pleased that we weren't there in December!!

ok looking hotel from the outside more or less across road from rail station , small pay and display car park adjacent.
We was told where to find our room through small corridors , numerous doors and steps to find a reall small room which smelt musty on arrival. No views from the window as it faced inside and decor and loo from the 60s !
numerous cushions were on the bed , but at least 2 had tide marks on them and dust was on all furnishings.
We got ready for our night out and thoroughly enjoyed chester itself , and after rising early and having a decent enough breakfast in a good size room , we departed with the intention of never visiting again.
A poor effort Best Western !!!!

I paid a £40 single supplement and got a very small single room. There was no shelf above the wash basin for toileteries, only the top of the toilet cistern. The toilet roll holder was 40 inches away from the toilet, not possible to use there so had to remove the roll and position on top of the cistern. Only 4 hangers in wardrobe. no shelves for clothing not suitable drawers. No hair dryer nor an empty socket if there had been one. On arrival the remote control for the TV had no batteries. Night before leaving a very wet towel left on wash basin and water all over the floor. This was eventually put right when reported at reception.

I stayed at this hotel as some friends and I were having a University reunion, the hotel is well located being right next to the train station and it is an easy ten minute walk into the centre of Chester. My room unfortunately was not what I had expected. It was very small and cramped, the television was an old-fashioned tube-set which was not on digital either which meant you could only watch five channels and the reception was so bad on most of them that it was un-watchable. The bathroom was horrendous as it was a bathtub with a low quality rubber hose set plugged into the taps which formed the shower-head which had no hook - so to have a shower you had to hold the shower-head with one hand above you. Another down-side is that you have to pay extra to have breakfast included. On the plus side the room was very clean - just in need of modernisation. From what I have heard there are some really nice rooms, sadly it is quite a gamble as to which you will get. During my one night stay I only saw one member of staff - a pleasant young lady at reception - so it is difficult to comment on the service.

Fantastic building, this was my first impression of the Westminster Hotel in Chester. I arrived at about 7-30 pm and was able to park for free right outside the hotel. The receptionist Paul was very welcoming and friendly. He said I could park for free there until 9am. The hotel is a minutes walk to the station, and I have read reports of cars being broken into. I saw no signs of this whatsoever. I was in room 127 on the 1st floor, the bed was excellent, the shower worked perfectly, the free Wi-Fi worked perfectly on my computer and there was no noise at all to keep me awake at night. I paid only £49 for bed and breakfast, but had to leave very early and did not get to eat the breakfast.
I think this hotel is very good for the money, I would certainly return and stay here again. It is yet another great value interesting hotel from Best Western.

Richard Kaminski.
