“Nice clean hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed my stay here. There are cheaper hotels in the area but you get what you pay for. The beer is expensive but the ambience of the bar is good and the bar staff chatty and pleasant. Had an excellent breakfast in the morning. An enjoyable stay.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel on a short trip to Chester in August 2013. It is an imposing Victorian building located opposite the station which is convenient for both trains and busses. It is about a five minute walk to the canal with a number of pubs and restaurants and about a ten minute walk from the city centre.

The hotel is clean, well decorated and furnished, the staff were friendly and helpful. On arrival at check it gives a good first impression. The room was quiet with a well equipped bathroom with good quality fittings.

The breakfast buffet had a wide range of food to suit all tastes. I would stay at this hotel again.

Such a different interesting hotel, in a way quite random!! I booked this hotel as i saw it had recentley had a re furb.
I booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal in a superior room which was amazing value for money.
The room had a unique decor. The room had that gorgeous new smell! The bedroom and bathroom were recenly decorated with new carpets and furnishings making it very enjoyable and comfortable.
Dinner was amazing ! 3 courses of beautiful fresh food with very large portions. The decor in kings restaurant where dinner is served was stunning and Service was good.

There are lots of interesting pieces of furniture to look at in the hotel coridors including masssive chairs and a phone box to have pictures taken with .
The hotel is opposite the train station. But if you drive parking is to be paid. We went for the hotel parking for £10 for 24 hours in the hotel ground. Or there are other carparks close by that cost aprox £6
I really recommend the Dinner bed and breakfast especially if you get it on a deal from the hotel web site.

Now what better than warm welcome before you even enter the hotel by the fine gentleman who goes by the name Iwan!! Well dressed and always a warm and welcoming smile, and to top it all off the reception staff are absolutely wonderful!! The hotel is great and the buffet breakfast is filling as you can help yourself to as much as you like, we are back here again in August for the races and we can't wait.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in an upgraded king room ( definitely worth the small supp we payed to be in the new wing).
Were able to check in early as room was ready , brilliant start.
Car park right next door and fine at £10 for 24 hours.
Room was a good size with a super king bed and enormous bath tub!!
Location is good as you just walk 10 mins along the canal (passing 2 nice pubs) to get to the city centre. The breakfast was amazing, meats/cheeses/normal cereals and yoghurts/pastries and a fantastic selection of hot buffet food for a full English!! Could not fault it at all. Good quality produce and lovely big dining room so never got busy while we were there (mid week).
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cocktails expensive but yummy!
Would recommend definitely :)

My wife and I travelled to Chester from Friday 26th To Sunday 28th July staying the new wing of the Best Western premier Queen hotel.

Check in was very quick and all of the staff were polite and friendly, we were taken from reception to the new wing of the hotel and shown where the lift was.

We were on the fifth floor and the room was a good size, the decor very nice no problems at all with the room. It even had air conditioning which was great as the weekend we were there it was very warm at night.

We did not have a drink in the hotel so I cannot comment on that but I believe the drinks were quite expensive as you would guess in such a nice hotel.

If you come out of the hotel and turn left and walk approx 5 mins you will cross over a small bridge and that is where the pubs and restaurants start, another 5 - 10 mins and thought the subway you will be in the town.

We were there B & B and the breakfast was fantastic, everything you could wish for and more, the two nights cost £215. To park your car in the hotel car park costs £15 per 24 hours but just park in the railway station car park as this is only £7 per 24 hours.

I would not hesitate to use this hotel again, there are ones closer to town but I cannot see them being as good as this one.

Room Tip: Try to get into the new wing

Myself and my girlfriend stayed for one night on Saturday the 10th of august and we were overall very pleased with our stay.

On arrival we stepped out of the train station and there it was, the first thing you see is this hotel and its exterior is stunning

We were checked in with no problem and given a complementary upgrade (We think to keep us away from a wedding function) to the Kings Quartets. The rooms were stunning and like new, especially the very clean bathroom. The view from the room however wasn't much to be desired but we were out and about anyway. We both slept absolutely fine and the bed was superb.

We had a drink in the bar late on Saturday night before bed and the staff were very alert and polite.

We opted not to stay for breakfast and checked out early to go shopping in the town centre, the hotel has a system for looking after your bags on your departure day and the staff were very good checking we knew where we were going.

Overall this is one of the best hotels we have stayed at and we will almost certainly return.
