“Very nice indeed - make sure you're in the Kings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Stayed here for one night in the King's side of the hotel (Malcolm III). Can't complain about anything. The room was very nice, quiet, comfortable, and had everything you could expect.
Breakfast was fine and the meal we had at a corporate function in the evening was really good too.
Car parking was easy and Chester rail station is literally over the road. The only reservation I would have about staying here to visit Chester itself is that it is some way from the town centre. I'm sure this isn't insurmountable but if you're looking for a hotel close to everything that Chester has to offer, you might want to have a look at other options before deciding.

Room Tip: make sure you get a room in the newer Kings part of the hotel.

After looking at the website for this hotel we decided to book for one nights stay. On arrival the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The front lobby impresses you with grand decor as does the exterior of the building, though it could do with a lick of paint.

Once we entered our room though it went down hill.

The decor and furniture were very dated and not in keeping with theme of the hotel at all.

There were muliple patches of damp on the ceiling in the bedroom and bathroom.

There was a burn on the wall where someone had imprinted the iron

The remote for the television did not work

The tea and coffee making equiptment was very dated, kettle also still half full with stale water.

There were spillages down the radiator

The mattress had almost every spring poking through

Needless to say we complained to reception and were told that the hotel was fully booked so we would not be able to exchange rooms. We then requested a full refund which they were more that willing to give without even inspecting the room, they did not seem to be suprised by our complaint.

I would like to point out again that the staff that we encountered on reception and the concierge were a credit to the hotel with there politeness, helpfullness and professionalism.

I would lie the blame with the managment as I am sure we were not the first and will not be the last to ask for a full refund.

My second visit to this hotel in a year. Had a much better experience this time around. Had a great room in the Kings and the breakfast was very good. Hotel staff were friendly and very helpfull. Bar staff a lot better this time.No sign of the ignorant bar lady from last year. Really enjoyed my stay and will stay again!

I stayed here for my birthday back in January!

Apart from the male receptionist on check in the staff couldn't do enough for us!
Tips of where to eat, quickest way back to our room, all lovely :)

Bottle of pink bubbly & chocolates in my room was a lovely touch as well!

Simon & his team are fantastic! Will definitely be back!!!

Room Tip: Try and stay in their Kings part of the hotel! Beautiful rooms with a gorgeous view of the city :)

Stayed here on a business trip...great for the trains, quirky styling, bar good, food plentiful.

Coldest rooms .... No heating on .... My room was fine but colleagues was awful. Three visits from staff to fx a window ...not good
If you go here be prepared to complain if you get an average room...Kings building is, I'm told, much better!

Not a bad stay for me, just average :-)

Despite being busy due to the races (which my wife and I were also attending), the staff at The Queen’s Hotel Chester were all exemplary during lunch and afterwards. I have never been to a hotel where every member of staff is so remarkably polished, both friendly and professional, from the doorman to the bar staff and receptionists. While we didn’t stay at the hotel, we will be certainly visiting for lunch and/or afternoon tea again before too long.

Room Tip: Did not stay

Stayed at this hotel for the past year whilst working for airbus, rooms are lovely if you get the kings side and the staff are extremely friendly, shame about the very rude and most unhelpful, abrupt manageress. Otherwise full marks.
