“Love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

We loved our stay, you really do feel special there from the way the staff are to the setting and the rooms. It's not cheap but it's worth it as a treat every now and then. We go every year for our anniversary and would recommend it.

Me and my husband spent one night here last year, was a surprise for me.We stayed in a King size suprieor room. From the minute we got there the all was perfect, easy check in,shown personally to our room by the receptionist !! Never had that before and we have stayed at 5star hotels all over the world.Had a lovely afternoon at the spa and gorgeous meal at the Brassiere restuarant.Fab breakfast next morning staff are amazing. We have just come back again from a one night break from our three beauitful children!! Once again this hotel is 1st class service at its best, staff are fab and couteous, the Brassiere restuarant was super ,the food and service were outstanding.I think for hotels to list themselves as 5star or the best should be able to acheive this 1st class service at all times and The Chester Grosvenor do this, would happily recommend the hotel to all who want or deserve a special break, thank you to all at the hotel who have made our nights with you outstanding and special.

When I was a kid and living in a council estate with no money this was THE place you didn't even dare walk past it was so posh. So it was a lovely treat from my husband to go for my birthday. We had a deluxe room I think, it wasn't the basic one anyway. IT was HUGE. The bed was HUGE. The bathroom was HUGE. The sheets were amazing. The room service was amazing. Everything was amazing. Including the bill (£770 for bed breakfast and dinner for one night).

It's a really great break here, the hotel is slap bang in the middle of all the shops so it was lovely to just wander then come back to the hotel. the cheese plate at dinner was the best I've ever had.

I'd love to stay again, and probably will.

Tip - if you don't like rowdiness, dont stay on a race day

Room Tip: Make sure it's not races day in Chester if you want a quiet weekend!

Access to this city-centre hotel would be more difficult were it not for the positioning of a braided chap to guide you the last 300 metres. On arrival at the front of the hotel we were efficiently greeted and guided towards reception with our luggage well handled by staff.
Our room, overlooking the front, was very well appointed and perfectly prepared. Next time I shall ask for a room at the rear as the carousing street noise from revellers (not traffic) was disturbing.
Dinner was wonderful! Menu choices were exciting and tempting and my duck in orange sauce was faultless. Restaurant surroundings (in the Brasserie) lend themselves to the comfortable and pleasing ambience.

Room Tip: Front of house can be noisy despite double glazing.

One of the experiences everyone should have, not only in Chester but the whole of the UK. A Decadent afternoon tea on The Gallery, under the crystal chandelier. Perfect sandwiches, too many scones for any appetite and delicious cakes with champagne and choice of numerous teas, all served by the most attentive restaurant manager. An absolutely fabulous way to spend our anniversary afternoon, or any afternoon. There's only one place we will be heading to whenever we are in Chester again. Highly Recommended.

Stayed at the Grosvenor for a long weekend to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, The hotel and adjoining car park was easy to find with the map downloaded from the hotels website, upon arival the car was parked by hotel staff and bags delivered to our room. Our room was on the first floor and was clean, tidy and very comfortable, however there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The hotel is in a great location being on the main shopping street with everywhere being in walking distance. The continental breakfast was more than ample for two people, with plenty of helpfull restaurant staff on hand, similarily with the bar staff in the evenings. Overall a comfortable stay and would definitely return.
