The best hotel we ever stayed in. Leisure centre most exceptional.. Care and personal attention from the owner to the junior staff could not be faulted with nothing too much trouble. We felt like royalty surrounded by smiling staff everywhere.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the garden and was superbly appointed.

My husband and I booked in at the Rowton Hall following a deal on SecretEscapes.com and the good reviews on Trip Advisor. The outside of the hotel is beautiful and there is plenty of parking. The hotel is only a few miles from the city centre and is only a short drive or taxi away.

Inside the hotel is very nice and there were areas for weddings and other events - although there was a funny smell in the conservatory we had to walk through to get to our room! Our room was nice, but small and showed wear and tear due to the age of the building. It got ridiculously hot in the room at points so we had to have the window open the whole time.

The bathroom was basic but adequate although very little toilet paper was provided and one of our towels was removed and not replaced meaning we had to request another one when we went out for the evening. Unfortunately we had to ask a second time on our return only to get some young man knock on our door, pass us the towel and leave without so much as a word. Generally the staff were polite and friendly but there was one bartender/waiter who left a lot to be desired.

We ate in the restaurant on one evening. The food was good although there was not enough choice to make us want to eat in there again.

One of the main reasons behind choosing this hotel was the spa. We fancied a spa break with a few treatments but the spa itself unfortunately wasn't very relaxing. There was an extractor fan or similar which made a loud noise as well as a whistle coming from somewhere which took away from the tranquility. We ended up using the pool, jacuzzi and steam room for about twenty minutes and then leaving.

Overall our stay was nice - nothing to shout about, but it was a good price through SecretEscapes. Given the large discount we were given, I would definitely not return at the hotel's full price. I would also recommend booking at a room only rate as the breakfast cost a ridiculous amount for what it was and it would have actually worked out cheaper paying for it separately.

My husband and I stayed here whilst attending a wedding back in May. This was our third stay overall. It is always a pleasure to stay at Rowton Hall as the whole experience is lovely. The hotel is immaculate, lovely clean comfy rooms and great food. The staff are always pleasant and actually smile, which seems a rare thing nowadays. Keep doing what you're doing as it works :-)

Stayed at the hotel due to business meetings nearby for two nights. Enjoyed everything that the hotel had to offer. The gym and pool were a perfect way to destress after a busy day and the food and wine was an even better solution. The staff were friendly and interested without being nosey. Had stayed previously on a romantic weekend and although the thought of returning to a hotel alone was slightly daunting I felt completely at home... Well, not at home as I never get spoilt there! Thank you for another wonderful stay, look forward to returning again soon.

Rowton Hall was the venue for our daughter and new son-in-law's wedding reception on the 21st September. From arrival to departure the following day the experience was a truly magical one. My husband and I were bursting with pride, no small thanks to the warmest of welcomes by all the staff who couldn't do enough for us, the immaculate and opulent room 'The Henrietta Maria' and the fabulous meal which was served in the beautifully-decorated function room. It was a large wedding party, yet the obviously well-trained staff coped admirably in a friendly and calm manner- nothing was too much trouble for them. The well-tended lawns and grounds are fabulous and we were fortunate to have a beautifully warm and sunny day which the guests really enjoyed! They could enjoy chatting to friends old and new in the garden area or dance to the fabulous band in the ballroom. A very hearty breakfast the next morning was just the thing to prepare us for the journey home- my husband and I will most certainly return very soon!

Room Tip: Comparing notes the next day, everyone had a really good night's sleep and I wasn't aware of...
