Description: Hickory’s Smokehouse is Chester’s authentic American BBQ. Here you can enjoy a traditional style of cooking that has its roots in the US, but that we think deserves to be just as popular over here. Our menu offers two styles of BBQ. The southern-style ‘Smoker’ BBQ uses slow, wood-fired cooking in our specially imported American smoker oven. The northern-style ‘Yankee’ BBQ is cooked over sizzling hot coals. Both styles create unbelievably tender, delicious meat and fish.

“Absolutely fantastic experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

It is difficult to know where to start to praise this restaurant. We booked for 12.30pm on the Saturday because that was the only vacancy that they had until Monday.
We were met at the door, taken to our seat and visited by the person who was to be our waiter. The staff here have been trained and knew exactly what they had to do without being at all patronising - well done to the management.

The food was superb even though I am not a great fan of burning my mouth, but i was warned. The beef ribs were to die for as was the chilled dark beer.

Thanks for a great experience, can't wait to visit again.

“Excellent dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

I dined here with my boyfriend and another couple, they managed to get a booking in short notice so we were lucky, my friends are frequent diners there and normally book at least two weeks in advance.
The atmosphere is lovely, the layout of the restaurant is friendly, and welcoming, I would recommend that you ask for a booth when booking, you get your own flat screen TV and coat hooks!
What I enjoyed most about Hickory's was the small gestures, the complimentary cup of popcorn before you order, the many varieties of unusual drinks on the menu as well as the desserts!
I ordered a BBQ Burger which was gorgeous, the chips were really nice. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and the staff were very friendly.

I tried to book a table for four for valentines three weeks before but they were full!

“One of the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

This is one of the best restaurants in Chester.
Great for Breakfast, Lunch or a evening meal.
Fantastic atmosphere, brilliant service, 1st class food and the views are good in the summer.
Expect to wait for a long time in the summer, as this place is extremely popular owing to the large outdoor dining space.
These guys really know what they're doing when it comes to food and drink

“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

This is a place to dine for those that want good food, great service and staff that care. Probably not the place for those that like palate of vegetables, who can not wait to minutes for food .

“Best ribs this side of the Atlantic! :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Me and my Fiance went here at around 4pm on a Tuesday evening, or as Hickorys call it 'Hog Heaven' evening :) We were seated at our own booth with its own TV and lighting, very cosy. A bowl of salted popcorn and a large bottle of water is complimentary.

There is a wide choice of non alcoholic drinks, we had the lemonade, creme soda and orange soda and all were really refreshing. The lemonade of served in a quirky jar which is cute :)

The food..... for £10 you can get a full rack of Kansas style baby back ribs, buffalo wings fries and 'slaw. However we decided to go even bigger and get the 'smokehouse platter' to share and it was awesome!

The ribs were so tender the meat just melted off the bone, we couldn't even pick the brisket out of the mess tin it was THAT tender. The 'slaw and fries are also good, you really need the 'slaw after all the rich sweet sauce you have! To end we shared a Mississippi mud pie which we just about managed to get down.

The staff are great, food is great and the place is great.. Its a must!! I would recommend booking a table as there are a lot of people who think the same as me and so the place gets busy at times.

We will definitely be back, especially for a birthday. The breakfast look real nice, waffles and pancakes with whatever the heck you want really! The place is also in a handy location as there is a number of hotels at the top of the road so is handy to grab drinks at or stroll to in the morning for breakfast.
