Description: Hickory’s Smokehouse is Chester’s authentic American BBQ. Here you can enjoy a traditional style of cooking that has its roots in the US, but that we think deserves to be just as popular over here. Our menu offers two styles of BBQ. The southern-style ‘Smoker’ BBQ uses slow, wood-fired cooking in our specially imported American smoker oven. The northern-style ‘Yankee’ BBQ is cooked over sizzling hot coals. Both styles create unbelievably tender, delicious meat and fish.

“AMAZING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

Hickory's is tucked away in the centre of Chester by the river, meaning the restaurant has fantastic views! The atmosphere in the restaurant is great, and the decor is so authentic you almost feel as though you are in America! The restaurant has seats inside and outside by the river.

The service is excellent, although it is wise to book a table in advance before you go! We were shown to the bar while we waited for our table. The bar is American sports themed, with a lively atmosphere!

We didn't have to wait long for our table, and we were allocated a booth. Although the restaurant was busy, the booth seemed quite secluded so we could enjoy our meal in peace.

The menu is very extensive and caters to everyone. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food! The portion sizes are un-believable and the tastes are amazing!

Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes American bbq type food! It is truly amazing!

“tomato/tomato”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

American... its all american... and i have to say its the most successful incarnation thats been operated at this venue in my own eating/drinking memory...
i do think that the food isnt all that good, and the theme doesnt do a great deal for me, and it is maybe a bit pricy in terms of value for money when one looks at the food on the plate.
more focus on creating a concept than a great experience but its alright.
ribs were overly saucy, but we may return on a sunny day

“Not quite Man v Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Had to try this one after becoming a late convert to the TV series Man v Food...a celebration of excessive, American pigging out. Burgers, hot dogs, bean casseroles but bigger much much bigger than you could imagine. but one of the central strands is the southern penchant for BBQ and PULLED PORK. As a great fan of slow cooking I couldn't wait to try this out at Hickory's. Booked a table for Sunday lunch, early fortunately cos it filled up very quickly. Great outdoor eating area but it was pouring down so we went inside and took one of the burger bar seats with a view of the kitchen. I'm fascinated by how kitchens work so i'm sitting at these spots wherever restaurants have them.
Started with Blackened ends...bits of brisket seared to prime juiciness. Followed up with yes, the famous pulled pork in a BBQ sauce with beans. Not disappointed apart from one aspect. Portion size. I don't go in for big portions when I'm eating out but c'mon guys it was a little bit stingey! Served in a mess tin. different!
One waitress was brilliant, the other serving us a tad miserable. Having a bad day maybe.
So, food great but I thought, for what you got, somewhat overpriced.
Give it a go though...next to the river, you won't get a better setting on a sunny day.
