“Great decor and friendly staff - will stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2011

We stayed here on a £99 dinner bed and breakfast offer - great value! The hotel itself is both modern and comfortable a rare combination. The room had fantastic views over the racecourse and floor to ceiling windows flooded in natural light yet 1st class blinds kept it out in the morning. The room was well appointed with a flat screen tv and both shower and bath. My only gripe is that signage is not great for the carpark so we had to call reception . Will stay again

the location was fantastic looking ove the race course and facing the castle. first impression was the hotel was very modern and super clean. we arrived at the hotel before the check in time but were checked in with no hesitation. the room was huge and absolutely gorgeous, very clean and the bed was so comfy. we asked the staff for ideas of where to go and they couldnt be more hepful with their suggestions. we ate in the mc cafe bar and grill, the food was super! breakfast in the champagne bar was a delight so much choice. couldn't recommend his hotel more and the staff were just fantastic!

I wanted something special for Mrs CM's birthday so with a little trepidation, I booked a 'Soul On Fire' night in a 'Fabulous suite' at the Abode. The trepidation was due to our last visit here in 2010 which left me unimpressed with the evening tasting menu, more impressed by the room and little unsure about the quality of the staff.
However, this year, I am very happy to say we had a fantastic time! From the moment we arrived, the staff were very polite and friendly and said our room was ready even though it was still only about midday. The Sea Pigeon Suite was superb and lovely to relax in.
In the evening, we had a glass of champagne as part of the deal along with the 7 course tasting menu. I had asked for a window seat on booking but we were shown to a table in the middle of the restaurant. Again, the staff were very accommodating and moved us to our desired table and also gave us another glass of champagne for the inconvenience, a very nice gesture. The meal and service was excellent throughout and we had a great evening.
There was supposed to be a bouquet of flowers in the room as part of the package but they had gone AWOL and were never found. Again however, the staff were excellent and on check-out, our drinks from the evening meal (wine, brandy and water) were removed from our bill due to the missing floweres. A nice touch again.
All in all, every member of staff were efficient and very kind and even the hotel service staff would hold open doors and point us in the right direction from the underground car park. We've stayed here 3 times now and each time it just gets better.
Mrs CM had a great birthday so a big thank you and well done to the Abode in Chester, it was a very memorable stay.

I recently stayed at The Abode in Chester on a business trip. I didn't know anything about the hotel at the time that I booked other than that it was in a location that was convenient for a meeting that I was attending nearby and that it offered a great rate.

What a happy surprise! The service was brilliant; everyone that I encountered was friendly, helpful and efficient. The package that I was on included dinner in the cafe and the food was absolutely delicious. It was easily the quality of a five-star deluxe hotel, and our waiter Joe could not have been more helpful, professional and kind.

The icing on the cake was the bed. I don't always sleep well when away and am very particular about hotel mattresses. The bed at The Abode was one of the most comfortable I think I've ever slept in. I mentioned this to the manager in the morning and he proudly said that all the mattresses were specially made for the hotel. Brilliant!

We needed to leave very early in the AM, but they offered a great 'breakfast to go service' which was fresh, tasty, nicely packed and ready to go at check out.

Great hotel for business and I would think also for pleasure as it's centrally located for the city centre and historic walls.

We stayed here on a Friday night, hotel was quiet but we didn't mind as after our meal we walked into the town centre to have a few drinks, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby (10mins walk). We booked on a bed breakfast and 2 course meal deal @ £109 for a couple, for the price this is an excellent deal (the car park is an additional £10, but worth it) The evening meal is 2 course (9.95 can be used against a different menu if requested) the choice was very limited and we paid a £5 supplement, but the food was delicious and presentation excellent as was the service all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Drinks were a little expensive but this is to be expected and to be honest you can just have one drink with dinner then go out if you choose! We had a room with a balcony facing the road, noise was only slight as double glazing excellent, room very comfortable. All in all for what you pay on a deal you cannot complain, very pleased and would definitely return. We struggled a little to find the car park but we phoned the Hotel and Matt on reception gave us directions, which were easy to follow as the car park is under the hotel!

I booked this hotel for myself and my husband in order to relax after a busy family christmas. We opted for the happy people deal and were looking forward to sampling what the hotel had to offer. Unfortunately we were very disappointed to find our room dirty especially the bathroom and not what you would expect from such a new build. 2 out of 3 bars were closed and so we had to have a drink in the cafe bar which was busy yet there were only 2 staff working so as a result the service was not great and it was taking a long time for tables to be cleared. On the positive side the food we had was excellent. On check out we did feedback our thoughts but felt that the receptionist couldnt really care less. in summary we thought that the hotel looked great but on closer inspection it lacked finesse
