“Ideal for a gentle walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

A stroll around the walls gives you a wonderful view of the city, and an idea of it's history. The walk is level and easy, but there are steps to negotiate to get you up there. Once you are on the wall, you can walk around most of the city, avoiding the crowds, and slipping on and off as the sights take your fancy. You can go from the cathedral right down to the river, and beyond, and discover lots of interesting nooks and crannies that aren't seen from the main shopping streets. There are also informative plaques at features of interest.

“Good way to spot the sights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Didn't do the whole walk as it was raining, but a good way to spot things you might otherwise miss such as the Roman gardens and site of the amphitheatre.

“Worth the walk”

2.5 miles, 1 hour, fabulous experience. Great way to see Chester. We parked by the race course and started at the castle.

This is a great way to start your visit to the City as you can leave the walls to see the Roman amphitheatre, stroll by the river, the race course, shops and tea rooms - and it is free!

“Pleasant stroll”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Walking the walls of Chester is always a pleasant way to spend time here. Try 'The Cafe at the Walls' just off the walls by the bridge. Fantastic home-made cakes!
