“Banquet fit for a king!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We have just returned from a weekend in Chester and one of the restaurants we visited was the Summer Palace. We came on Trip Advisor several weeks prior to our visit and looked at a few Chinese restaurants. This one got lots of good reviews so we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. We decided to order one of the banquet options, which was £22 each. There were four in our party, and when the plate arrived with our starters, it was amazing! Spring rolls, spare ribs, two chicken dishes, wontons, seaweed - all delicious, but I must give a special mention to the spare ribs :) Then came the crispy duck and pancakes, served with a delicious plum sauce. Finally the main courses - a mixed sweet and sour (meat and huge, juicy prawns), a spicy chiken dish, mixed meat in black bean sauce and a sizzling beef dish. Every one was so tasty and all washed down with a very pleasant white wine. Needless to say we failed to eat every last bit, but did give it a good go. Would definitely recommend a visit here.

“Very tasty Chinese food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

We visited this restaurant based on recommendations and it was well worth it. The food I ordered was so tasty it put my local take-away to shame. Full of flavour. The dishes looked small when they arrived but neither me nor my husband could finish our plates. Service was unobtrusive but attentive.
