Description: Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, has held a Michelin star for nineteen years running surely a record outside of London. Under the direction of Executive Chef Simon Radley the exceptional modern British menu changes seasonally and uses only the finest ingredients. The cellar is also renowned, having one thousand bins and a sommelier of prodigious knowledge. The dining room itself is as dashing as you would expect with comfy chairs, oriental carpets, fine woods, original artwork, ebony pillars and many-layered tones of gold and taupe. The service is distinguished by its warmth and professionalism. Top marks.

“Lovely Evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We ate a la carte. The food was very good.Staff were excellent and very attentive although this did start to wane as the restaurant filled up. Excellent bread selection and cheese board. Only negative sitting us next to the only other two occupied tables in the resturant whilst the rest of the place sat empty for at laest another hour. There is no music and so it felt very quiet and awkward as everyone could hear everyone's conversations. I'm not sure why restaurants don't space you out.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We ate here for our anniversary and got an almost half price deal on the tasting menu. Of course after a couple of bottles of wine and a 12.5% service charge ( which you could ask them to take off - we didn't ) it still weighed in as a hefty price, but it was a special occasion... !

The 8 course tasting menu was preceded by first nuts and olives, then canapés, then as much bread as you wanted from the "bread waiter" who had at least ten handmade loaves, ( our favourite was wine and walnut ) on offer. Then each of 8 courses, presented beautifully, including a larger "main", and two sweets, just the right size so you didn't feel over full, and if you were still hungry, have some more delicious bread. And in my case, the cheese plate as well, which was the perfect end to our meal.

I don't think any flavour or ingredient was missed out, it really was an amazing set of combinations, plenty of space in a nice setting, and the staff were just on the right side of unobtrusive. I would have liked a few more Aussie Shiraz's to choose from, but the one we picked along with a rich Malbec was very good.

A perfect evening, and perfect food, for a very special occasion. We were in the restaurant for almost three hours, and didn't want to leave.

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Everything about this place is perfect. The team of people who welcome you, the bar, the restaurant and the totally amazing food. Expensive but fantastic value. Carlo the manager and Gary the sommelier make every dining experience at Simon Radley as good as it gets.
