“More and more Real Sark”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

The lady, whose Bed and Breakfast (Sue's B&B and Tea Garden) we stayed at, was singing with the delightful Sark Singers at the Island Hall on our first night. She suggested a meal for us at Hathaway's which is next to La Seigneurie Gardens. It was early in the season and we were the only customers. Our waitress, a sweetheart, kept us amused and informed throughout an enjoyable meal of King Prawns & Salmon and a Lamb with Couscous dish that was enjoyably spicy.
This would be a great setting for any meal and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.

Early in the season but nothing on the menu was available so we ended up with sliced white bread smoked salmon sandwiches

“Ideal for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

We have eaten at Hathaways a number of times and it has always been very good. Whether choosing lobster or a burger, the food is excellent and the service is very good.

It has a great location at the entrance to the Seigneurie and you can sit inside our outside. Highly recommended for a more up market lunch.

“Fantastic restaurant, must visit this one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

This was the best restaurant visit of our holiday, pretty reasonably priced too. Modern, comfortable surroundings. Fresh food, delicious tasting. My husband enjoyed the lobster - he had had several bad experiences previously but Hathaways converted him. I had the chicken which was also cooked to perfection. Need to book as popular.

“Sark - plus !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

Sark is a very special place - you either love it (and come back ) or hate it for it's lack of cars, nightclubs, etc.

In a sense, Hathaways (named after the redoubtable Dame Sybil Hathaway who was the dame of Sark during the invasion in second world war, and whose home Hathaways is in the grounds of) is a sort of condensation of Sark in a sense.

OK - it's not a place many residents regularly eat at ('though I know some who do) but the atmosphere, food, service and outlook seem to sum up one part of the island extremely well.

Eating outside in the sun is a wonderful experience - and of course the seafood is inevitably the star on such a small island - and the service is so friendly and helpful that you feel at home in a rather special way.

When it's wet, then indoors with the fire (mentioned elsewhere) is cosy and comforting.

The gardens are also well worth a visit -don't miss the battery of cannon if you have an interest in this area - but most of all, don't leave without at least a snack in Hathaways.
