“Not much to write home about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Well we were out of season but the coffee was questionable and the small piece of cake, all they seemed to have for us to eat was acceptable. However the lady serving (cleaning and chatting) was nice and helpful to us visitors to the island. Also the price was very fair so we were not unduly offended!

“Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

On visiting Herm for the day we had lunch at The Mermaid Tavern.
There are plenty of tables outside and umbrellas providing shade from the hot sun. The menu was very good with lots of choice.
The service was friendly and helpful. Prices a little higher but only reflecting the cost of living in the islands but portions were plentiful.
If you are visiting Herm a lovely place to eat in pleasant surroundings with excellent service.

“Lovely beer and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

I am fortunate enough to be able to visit the beautiful island of Herm a couple of times each year and normally manage to have lunch at The Mermaid. It can get busy so it is worth arriving early. There is normally a good selection of beer, I particularly like the Herm Island Gold. The food is pretty standard pub food with very generous portions. There is a large court yard area, with umbrellas to offer protection from the summer sun but I prefer eating in the bar area, which is often quieter. A visit to Herm is always special, with The Mermaid being an ideal lunch spot.

“Great spot for a pint and a feed on a very lovely island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Enjoyed a pint of Herm Island liberation blonde after a tough walk over the hill from Belvoir Bay in the heat, nice pub with chatty bar staff and a good courtyard to sit outside (with umbrellas if you need sun shelter). As other people have said, it is part pub part café. Not a problem, just choose which bit you perfer and sit there! Ideally placed to stop off at on your way to catch the ferry back to Guernsey.

“Great choice of beer & cider + good bar menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Visited with a group of friends in July, on one of the wettest afternoons of the month. We weren't able to get a table all together at first, but that was understandable, as it started pouring at around 2 and refused to stop. Due to the weather once the 4 & 5pm boats left it quietened down a bit.
They had a good choice of beer & cider, and being a Guern that now lives in the West Country, I'm fairly fussy about my cider, so it was nice to see a few decent ciders available, probably the best choice in Channel Islands!
Bar food was also good, a varied menu with pretty large potions and out of a group of 15, no plates went back with food on!
