Yesterday we chose to dine at the White Pheasant and had just a generally lovely time. I was very impressed by the food. Creative but not silly and beautifully executed. I chose the whitebait to start which pleasingly had avoided the usual pub battered feel. They were delicate and lightly toasted and accompanied by a really sumptuous tartare sauce. The chicken ballontine was an attractive dish and all the components worked really well....I'd definitely order it again.
If anything the atmosphere just felt a tinsy bit empty...my partner disagrees, but I'm a fan of a candle here and there... Either way I'm sure it won't be long until this new team will establish the White Pheasant as a must.
