“Great food, longish wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

A great place, excelent food, indeed one of the best Indian places in Cambridge. The menu is vast: covers all the classics plus many less "usual" dishes. The meat are delicious, cleverly spicied. The menu is clear, full of indication for beginners and for people with food intollerancies.
The service is good and friendly. But be prepared to wait looong time before your food get served. Make sure to order papadoms to munch during the wait.
The choice of alcohol is not as superb as the food, so consider taking your drink somewhere else. Overall fully recommended.

Thank you for your review, and sorry for the wait as the kitchen is quite small so it's quite difficult to speed the process up when we are busy as we are serving the restaurant food and takeaway at the same time. However please do come in on the weekdays as we will be much more quiet.

“Good food but be prepared for a wait at peak times”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Tried this restaurant one Friday night after reading the reviews here. We went slightly early (7pm) as we suspected it would be popular and busy on a Friday night. We had a short wait in a small area next to the kitchen but were seated quite promptly and given some lovely poppadoms and pickles as a starter, drinks also came promptly and our order was taken. It was quite a long wait until the main course but when it came it was really nice,I had a mild prawn curry and my husband had the slightly hotter lamb shank. All the dishes going past looked good. I think that if you want nicely cooked food then you have to wait for it especially at peak times so don't go here if you are in a hurry. They also trying(judging by the number of bulging carrier bags being rushed from the kitchen ) to run a very busy take -away service from the same kitchen and this clearly slows things down quite a bit. The manager/waiter did apologise for the slow service but it didn't bother us as we were not in a hurry. The decor was fresh and slightly colonial style and the overall atmosphere in the place was relaxed and friendly ,there were plenty of locals and a few families. I would go there again.

“Awful service walked out of restaurant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Shocking service. We booked a table for 8 sat night for 4 people. Arrived 5 minutes early - waiter barely acknowledged us. We were left to wait for 40 minutes in the reception area right next to the kitchen and front door in everyone's way. After 40 minutes, still not seated, still not even offered a drink and still not told that when our table would be ready. We asked the waiters and kept being told nothing, no apology, no information , nothing.no one would catch our eyes, the guy who appeared to be the head waiter eventually told us three minute wait, 10 minutes still waiting still no information,. We walked out. First time I have ever walked out a restaurant . Definitely would not go back to such bad service. Sure- it is busy and you may have to wait but tell your dinners that there is a wait, offer them a drink, apologise for the wait

Firstly, apologies for your wait as it was pay weekend, we were extremely busy, in this case you had to wait approximately 15 minutes. In that space of time I personally kept you informed about your table, your table was ready but you decided not to dine with us. We are a very busy restaurant and little errors are bound to be made.
