“Don't stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I am trying to find a redeeming feature to my stay but there just isn't one! Generally the "Hotel" a loose description "B&B" would be more truthful is looking very tired and is in the need of redecorating which you maybe able to live with but the inexcusable part of my stay is the cleanliness of the room, the bathroom was just unclean with makeup smeared on the wall mixed with I hope tea stains, black mould around the tiles and I don't know how describe what I saw at the back of the toilet! And a shower that was broken in the extent that the shower riser didn't work so I had to hold the shower head.
The small bedroom (a single with a double bed in it) again need a good clean, cup marks on shelves, stained walks and requiring redecoration.Tthe heating seamed to be on a timer so I woke up cold during the night! So with all this going on you would hope for warm welcome to make up for some of this but unfortunately this was there either! So to sum up and save other travellers I would recommend that you just don't stay there!

The bed in my tiny single room was comfortable enough but this is the only OK thing about the place (apart from being close to the station). The room was tiny but not well thought through - e.g. no bedside table at all, bed pushed up against radiator and wall and underneath window (so curtains can't close easily), dents in wall where people had tried to move bed because of this, bathroom so small the sink was unusable without opening the bathroom door, towel rail hanging off the wall. In the corridor outside the room there were big holes in the plaster on the walls. Really noisy too. It'd be OK for the price of a youth hostel or less but otherwise not worth it.

Ok as a B&B that is trying hard . Friendly professional staff and good choice at breakfast. Limited first come first serve for car parking

Rooms are odd shapes with thin walls. They are clean and tidy

I feel that calling this a hotel ( with appropriate pricing ) raises expectations that cant be met ( despite their best efforts ).

Rebadge as a mid range B&B and it could be very good

Spent last weekend in Cambridge staying at Fenners Hotel. It is really a guest house but we found everything to our liking there. Our rooms were clean and bright. Breakfast good. The staff were extremely helpful and looked after us well. Fenners is only a few minutes from the station and very convienient if you arrive by train. The buses into the city centre leave the station every 10minutes, so it is handy for sightseeing and shopping in this lovely old city. Would have no trouble in recommending Fenners to a friend.

Room Tip: Oops 5and 6 are quiet and bright.

Booked on the road so didn't have time to read reviews (PITY) on arrival was greeted by receptionist but was not show room till our payment was confirmed and was told this rate was not refundable (£85) when on seeing the room I understand why this was the case as room nothing like pictures on web site dirty ,smelly grubby broken shower could not face breakfast based on this would certainly not stay ever again.

Staff very helpful and friendly.

Room poorly furnished - Bed and shower broken

Poorly cleaned - Carpets filthy.

Very noisy - with thin doors / walls and a very noisy staircase outside the room

Do yourself a favour - Look elsewhere

If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Cambridge - stay well clear of this dump.
The website looks okay - reality is somewhat different - it is a scruffy, dirty, downtrodded place - filthy rooms with tired and wornout furnishings.

Our room looked like it hadn't been decorated this century - marks and stains allover the walls - paintwork shabby- bathroom tiles dirty. The mattress was a limp, soggy affair - the bathroom sink was blocked - the whole place is smelly - we decided no way would we risk breakfast.

Can't be more direct on this one - please stay away !!!

Room Tip: Don't bother - look elsewhere
