This is a fun experience, and a bit different to most kid's activities.
The idea is that you are a team of spies, landing on a nuclear-armed warship that has been taken over by terrorists, in order to disarm the weapons and prevent the terrorists launching them.
In practice this means a series of mental and agility challenges, along the lines of The Crystal Maze TV show. You crawl through air ducts and passageways from room to room, with a new challenge in each room. The challenges are NOT easy, we only achieved half of them with two adults and three children working together!!
There is no violence or fighting aspect to this activity; at one point you are issued with guns, but these are only used to shoot out the security cameras (with lasers).
Each team is accompanied throughout the activity by an instructor, who explains the challenges and how to complete them. While this is undoubtedly useful, it does distract from the sense of being a team of spies infiltrating the ship; it would feel more "real" if we had to work out the challenges ourselves, at least where there is an adult in the team.
This sense of "real-ness" could have been better. The concept of infiltrating the ship is a good one, but once in the task it's just a case of "do this challenge", "find these codes", they could do more to link the individual activities to our overall mission. This was not helped by the fact that our instructor seemed in a great rush, and spoke and gave us our instructions very rapidly, which made it hard to take in (particularly for the younger team members).
Some tasks were irrelevant - at one point we had to memorise 6 4-digit codes between us, but then we never used them for anything! I suspect the course we did had been abbreviated, as there was building work going on while we were there, but the course hadn't been totally planned and integrated properly.
My two boys (11 and 8) really enjoyed this experience, but my daughter (13) was bored by it, so it's not for everyone, but it's hard to predict who will enjoy it and who won't.
