Description: You may have tried Italian, French and Chinese foods but until you have enjoyed the best of Polish Cuisine you haven't lived! Come to the Polonia Club on Chesterton Road in Cambridge to find out how it really is.Polish Food is a relatively new phenomenon in the UK but one which is soon to as popular as popping out for an Indian on a Friday night. Pierogi, placki ziemniaczane, and many more dishes are sure to become as famous as curry, naan bread and poppadoms. Serving nothing but authentic Polish Food, the Polonia Club sources all of its food locally. Polish delicacies such as bigos, golabki and more are all on the menu for customers to try and then enjoy time after time. The extremely reasonable menu starts at just £4,50 giving everyone the opportunity to try something new for little cost. we are especially proud of our home baked bread which contains no artificial food colourings and flavourings . Poland is renowned for its alcohol and the Polonia Club brings this particular aspect of its spiritual home to Cambridge with especial vigour. An incredible range of Polish spirits and traditional vodkas are served that will put most bars and pubs to shame. 46 different types of Polish vodka are available, both pure and flavoured. Those seeking something a little lighter need not worry - 12 different Polish beers can be selected too. Especially good for parties the Club can be hired for private bookings and social events. If it's your birthday they will bake a special cake for you if advance notice is given.

“Authentic. Great service. Good atmosphere. Good value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We had a really great night at Polonia Club. Service was just as it should be- unobtrusive, helpful, friendly, warm and welcoming. Amazing choice of vodkas. Reasonably priced wine. Good, authentic food. We had a selection of salads, trout and hunter's stew and fruit filled dumplings for pudding. It was packed so would advise booking on a Saturday evening. We took our time and didn't feel rushed in any way. In fact we had such a great time we literally had to run to catch the last guided bus back! A really good experience in all. Unusual these days to feel that you weren't ripped off. Fot four of us £ 120 three course meal, 2 bottles of wine and copious amounts of vodka and plum brandy. Hope Club Polonia does well because it doesn't try to be something it isn't. No pretentiousness here. We'll be back.

“reliable polish cuisine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

My husband is Polish and it is for this reason that we visit Polonia every few months so he can get his 'fix' of Polish food. The food is traditional home-cooked with no frills, but exactly what you would expect. We usually have a soup to start and then Pork and Golambki as a main, but I've tried a variety of dishes and they are all good! As a treat for dessert I'd recommend the fruit filled pierogi! The service is always excellent, attentitive and polite.
My only criticism would be that it's quite cold in the dining room during the winter months, so I always wear extrra layers when we go.

“Wonderfully authentic and satisfyingly different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

My parents and I visited this restaurant last week and were immensely impressed with everything they had to offer. Although it is tucked away down a little residential street it was filled with customers so it is a good thing we booked a table in advance.

The restaurant is cosy, inviting and comfortable and the staff were all very polite and attentive. You are not made to feel rushed in any way and so we felt as though we had had a truly enjoyable, relaxing evening out by the time that we left.

Now for the food. Having just visited Krakow last October with my boyfriend I had high expectations for the quality and variety of food and drink they would offer and I was not disappointed. The menu has such a large selection of food and drink that it was like seeing the menus of every restaurant I had been to in Krakow compiled into one. Every authentic Polish dish and more from pierogi, bigos and borscht to oscypek with cranberries, pork schnitzel and potato pancakes with beef goulash was listed and all at incredibly reasonable prices. You could tell everything was homemade and the taste and quality could not be faulted.

As for the drinks the menu was just as extensive. They had so many different vodkas that my dad couldn't decide and asked them to serve him one on recommendation which they did and it was delicious. As well as vodka they supply many beers including the Polish known brands of Tyskie and Zywiec and on top of this they also serve mulled wine or (my personal favourite) the hot honey mead (miod pitny) served in a ceramic cup placed over a small tealight burner to keep it hot. Delicious.

All in all, we had a fantastic evening and couldn't stop talking about it in the car on the way home. We all agreed it was so refreshing to find a restaurant in Cambridge that offered food you can't usually find in all of the bigger 'chains' and for a competitive price and quality as well. We will definitely be visiting there again and my parents are even considering booking their 40th wedding anniversary there!

If you do go, just make room for dessert. Their homemade apple cake with vanilla ice cream and cream is something not to be missed!
