“a lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

We only stayed one night here on our way up to York. Its a very clean and pleasent place to stay. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was included in the price of our booking which we didnt know until we were told when we arrived. We went down to the bar in the evening to ask if there was any food available and the only thing was pizza's. We ordered two and when they arrived they were not cooked through, very doughy and not much flavour to them, and nearly £10 each we felt were not good at all. The breakfast was lovely, very fresh, everything was hot and you can eat as much or as little as you like, and was being filled up all the time. A very pleasent stay and we would stay there again. The rooms were very nice, a large TV with a DVD player built in. The bathroom didnt have a bath but a very large shower.

Stayed for 2 nights B & B. Eventually found the place if you are coming on the A14 from the west come off at junction 34 head into town on the Newmarket Road and before the new Holiday Inn turn left onto Coldhams Lane. Follow the road until you have the airport on your left. There are a set of traffic lights into the industrial estate take the left (the site board shows the hotel on it). This should be Norman Way but it is not marked. The hotel is at the top of the road. From here for the walkers it is a straight walk right into Cambridge about 3 miles.
The staff were all excellent and very helpful (the one receptionist was good enough to print off a map from the hotel to the city). The room was very clean and if you get an odd numbered room you have a lake view, even number some woodland. Breakfast was very good, hot breakfast limited in, scrambled egg, sausages and beans. Cheeses, fresh yoghurt, fruit, juices, croissants and pastries, rolls, brown/white bread, preserves.
Bar prices reasonable and there's an ice machine if you bring your own wine.
Definitely would go back, well worth the money.
For good food see Hungry Horse at Milton Road and the Green Man.

Stayed in this hotel for three days and enjoyed it. The room was great and breakfast was good.
The staff was magnificent from check-in to check-out, made you feel like an old friend (kudos to Jose and Roxy(?) ) . The only thing that I could suggest is the rooms to have a foldable luggage stand since there is no other place to lay your luggage except on the sofa or the bed (if you have two single beds).

First time here, for two nights 25-27 October.
We were greeted in a friendly and caring manner, I think the receptionist was called Hannah.
Thank you for that, it was very pleasant to be greeted so nicely after the drive. Parked with ease, arrived early to ensure we could park.
Clean, tidy and, after reading one or two negative comments below regarding cleanliness, may we report how spotless our room and bathroom, tea and coffee facility, and toilet were, really, really good.

We had breakfast on the second and final morning, and no, its not the Savoy, its Holiday Inn Express, but it was very good, very fresh and quite adequate, and I had two croissants I found them so fresh and tasty! They are doing a very, very good job as the hotel was so very busy, and fair enough, as they are offering very good deals on the internet right now, so good to see the place busy, to be fair.

We are not regulars at this hotel chain, but will use again, on the basis of this visit, as it was very clean and we were treated very well.

Thanks again.

Room Tip: I guess all rooms here are pretty much alike, but standards seem to be high throughout the hotel and...

Have stayed twice in the past 4 months as part of a conference team and have been delighted with the service from all staff, particularly those looking after our conference facilities. Nothing is too much trouble and I'm looking forward to further visits throughout 2014.

All staff are well presented and helpful. The bedrooms are clean and quiet, the bar menu has been improved since I last stayed and is good value. If you are staying several nights and want a change, the hotel can arrange a taxi and its only 10 mins into town, or the David Lloyd Leisure Centre next door also do bar meals.

Good quiet location too.

This seemed to be a brand new hotel, on a business park about 2 miles outside Cambridge City Centre. All in all it was just ideal for an overnight stop and way, way ahead of competitors like Premier Inn or the dreaded Travelodge and well worth the higher cost. Like all Holiday Inn's I've been to, the staff were pleasant and helpful and the wifi, although a bit slow, worked both in room and in the common areas. A big plus over the competition is that HI Expresses have a large, comfortably furnished lounge and bar area which is welcome after a hard day's work. I ate in the restaurant. The food was basic but pleasant enough and not too expensive. The inclusive breakfast was fine for a freebie. The cooked items were nothing special but the croissant, for example was actually very good.

The room was not enormous but quite big enough and very smartly and cosily furnished with sofa, desk and chair as well as good double bed. Very large TV and ample tea/coffee, soaps, shampoos, etc.

I would have preferred a bath to a shower and I found it quite hard to get to by public transport from the city centre but those are just a quibbles. Otherwise a place that's entirely fit for purpose.
