“Excellent option”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I do travel to Cambridge regularly for business and have tried quite a lot of hotels in the area. Must say that this one is my preferred option. Rooms are not massively big but decoration and quality of the place is higher than any other hotel around. Food at the hotel's restaurant (Graffiti Restaurant) is great. However, the hotel is located a bit away from the city center and you will need either to take the car or walk half an hour. In any case, this hotel is a real gem!

Thank you so much for your review and for your kind words. I am delighted that you have chosen Hotel Felix as your 'home from home' when working in Cambridge. The hotel is about five minutes' drive from the centre of Cambridge, however we have ample parking for which we do not charge. Alternatively, as you say, the hotel is situated half an hour's walk from the centre, which can be pleasant on a sunny day. 'A real gem'... thanks so much for the compliment!

Cambridge is one of my very regular business destinations. In the past 10 years I have stayed in a couple of hotels in Cambridge and vicinity, Felix included. I think I was one of the first guests at Felix and I was thrilled back then. Nothing has changed since. The cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel, the warmth, kindness, friendliness, professionalism of the staff remained in the highest level. To start your day, best breakfast ever: fresh fruit, fresh juices, cappuccino, real eggs (no egg powder), toast, croissants - you name it, you will get it. This is why I always come back to Felix although I had been booked in an other hotel for a couple of visits. Felix is like home!! Try it, you'd love it, too.

I'm delighted that you have been staying at Hotel Felix for so many years and how lovely that you consider this beautiful hotel as your 'home from home'. Working away on business can often be daunting and very tiring, so it's important to be able to stay somewhere where you feel at ease and well looked after.

I am flattered to read your kind words regarding the professionalism, friendliness, warmth and kindness of the staff that work here. It is an ethos which has been instilled by our General Manager, and is something which flows effortlessly throughout the hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you back when you next come and stay with us.

We held our wedding at the Hotel Felix on Sat 26th Jan 2013. I cannot recommend them highly enough to people looking for a wedding venue. From the wedding co-ordinator to all members of staff on the day...the level of organisation, professional and courtesy was superb. In the run up to the wedding we were confident that all was on track and during the day they took the stress out and ensured that people were in the right place at the right time. The food at the wedding breakfast and evening buffet was delicious and having our own room for ourselves and wedding guests for breakfast the next morning was the icing on the cake. They really helped to make our day so special. So thank you to all the staff at the Hotel Felix.

The hotel is really lovely and the rooms are great - the place has had an extension so most rooms are outside of the old building. The location is a little odd - it is fair way from the city centre so it is either a long walk or a taxi ride to reach the main sites and activity.

The restaurant is really good an serves great food and wines - well worth a visit.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Hotel Felix. All of our bedrooms are connected to the main hotel building, without any need to go outside. However they are, as you say, in contemporary annexes which were added when the hotel opened ten years ago. Moreover, there are four rooms which are situated in the beautiful Victorian villa.

I am a little unsure as to your referral to the location being 'odd'. Hotel Felix is situated slightly away from the main road, which actually has its advantages... peace and quiet being just one, without the sound of passing traffic. The hotel is situated 1.5 miles from central Cambridge, representing a 30 minute walk, or a five minute bus or taxi ride.

Graffiti is rather special isn't it and it's great to hear that you enjoyed your experience in our award-winning restaurant.

On behalf of the team at Hotel Felix, we look forward to welcoming you back.

I stayed here Christmas Day night, with my boyfriend, parents and brother. We were visiting our Grandma for Christmas so wanted somewhere near to where she is.
From the moment we arrived we were treated with so much warmth, kindness and professionalism. Even though we hadn't asked all three rooms were by each other.
Once in the room we asked for wifi vouchers and within a few minutes they were at the door to give the voucher to us.
We had booked the Christmas buffet and that was delicious and the wine we had with it was very very good.
The beds were comfortable and the room was very cosy. We all slept so well.
We had breakfast before we checked out and that was cooked very nicely and was really tasty.
Overall the experience was fantastic and we would definitely stay there again.
I travel a lot with work and this is one of the highest standards of service I have ever experienced and would go back anytime.

I've visited Hotel Felix many times over the years, to attend a friend's weddings, for work meetings, for training events being held there, and for a wake. Most recently we went to meet some business clients who were from out of town.

It is a very nice, plush building set in nice grounds, and is peaceful and quiet. You can always park there, and it has easy access from the M11 / A14 and is only a 10-minute taxi to the station. So it's pretty convenient.

Staff are all well trained and work well, no complaints there. The food is good, it looks impressive, and I'd say that 8/10 times it delivers well. Small portions, but generally good quality. There is normally a set lunch with 2 courses for around £20 or 3 or £25.

Coffees etc are expensive, and really not that special. £3.65 + 10% service added for a double espresso that was inferior to the quality I'd make at home, little crema or depth of flavour.

If you want somewhere that looks good to meet people for a business lunch that has plenty of parking and is quiet enough that you can talk, Hotel Felix is a good choice. If you are not paying for it on expenses, I couldn't say that it represented great value.

Thank you so much for considering Hotel Felix for your recent business meeting. I also very much appreciate the complimentary comments that you make about the hotel. However, the prices that you have quoted concern me and are actually incorrect. For some time, our set lunch has been priced at £14.50 for 2 courses and £18.50 for 3 courses offering fantastic value for money. Furthermore, we charge £2.50 for a small expresso and £2.95 for a large one.

Do you still have your receipt? If you feel that you were overcharged and would like to clarify the matter, please do contact the hotel and speak to our General Manager.
