“High quality B & B in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

This is a very high quality place to stay with easy access to central Cambridge, good parking, attractive rooms and delicious breakfast.

We arrived with high expectations because even the directions were spot on. We were not disappointed as we were shown to our top floor room ( Duke of Wellington) overlooking the interesting Unitarian Chapel. The room was spotlessly clean with good lighting, attractive Rodin prints and a good shower room. There are rooms with baths but we were very happy with a spacious shower. The bad linen and towels were high quality and luxurious and the decor very restful.

The room was not spacious but there is ample space to sit and relax in the downstairs sitting room which has good guide books an daily papers. Every possible comfort has been thought of.

Liz is charming and very helpful without being intrusive. She recommended an excellent walking tour guide who showed us hidden Cambridge - ask for Margaret Goddin.

Breakfast is delicious with a good selection of cereals fruit and jams as well as a full English Breakfast cooked to order and served in an attractive breakfast room.

Highly recommended and we will certainly make it our place of choice in Cambridge.

Room Tip: All will be good in their own way. Ask if you want a bath rather than just a shower, The website giv...

We have stayed for two nights twice in the last fortnight. Staying in different rooms. This really is a super place. In fact I was tempted to keep it a secret, but hey, if you read this and stay with Liz and Rob you will be "stealing with pride" and will deserve your reward.
Duke House is well positioned, a very short walk from the centre of Cambridge. The rooms are well furnished, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms excellent!
You will struggle to find a better breakfast. Magnificent! We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Cambridge room has a pretty special bath.

My wife and I stayed here recently for a wedding anniversary weekend. Duke House is situated just a fw minutes walk away from the centre of the city and a short taxi ride away from the train station (cost for a taxi £5-6). Liz was a wonderful host and made us feel welcome from the start. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely en suite bathroom. The breakfast was just delicious and set us up for a day of sight seeing and shopping. I would imagine that you could get a cheaper B&B in Cambridge but the extra was well worth it! We would heartily recommend Duke House to anyone visiting Cambridge.

I booked Duke House as we had a wedding in Cambridge. I choose it for several reasons - great reviews, looks nice, very central location - walking distance to everywhere in central Cambridge and because it also has free parking - not very common for hotels and B&B's in central Cambridge. We only stayed one night but the Cameron's were very friendly and helpful. We we supposed to have a weekend away without our one year old baby but in the end he had to join us and although Duke House isn't really a place for small babies, the Camerons were very accomodating - Liz even made the baby some special porridge for his breakfast! Our breakfast was amazing and lots of nice fresh food to fill you up. So to sum it up Duke House is clean, the building is charming with old character and some origional features but at the same time modern and well renovated inside, very central and has parking if you book. Its about time Cambridge had a decent B&B! We will be back soon.

Duke House is the perfect B&B in central Cambridge. Firstly the location is fantastic, within easy walk of everything you would want. We had the biggest of the rooms which was basically a mini suite. The decore of the room was very nicely done and was clean and modern while still feeling traditional. Our room also had a mini balcony with seating and although it was too cold for us to use it, I imagine in the summer it would be the perfect place to while away some time with a book. The bathroom was also really nicely done with the original shower and a huge deep bath which Zoe anjoyed lounging in.

The lounge area is very nicely decked out with an open fire (for the winter) and we spent a nice hour with my wife beating me at scrabble as there are a selection of games and books to choose from.

The breakfast in the morning was really excellent. We were aksed what time we would like to east and as it was a Sunday we suggested 10 o'clock (too late for many B&Bs) and were told that wouldn't be a problem. The breakfast itself had a wide selection of artisan cerials, fruits, breads and pastries and then a full english for my wife and a full vegetarian for me. I was greatful that they had taken the time to cater for vegetarians as that is not always the way.

The owners were very friendly and extremely helpful. They have obviously taken great care of their business and the love and attention shows. Liz was able to give us good tips on what to do and where to go which aided our trip. Before we arrive she contacted us to arrange parking if we needed it and let us check in early.

To sum up, the place is wonderful. We slept so well and felt really cared for and looked after. If you are in Cambridge and are looking for a place to stay then I cannot recommend Duke House highly enough.

My husband and I booked Duke House for our first night away without our children in 3 years and we could not have chosen a more fabulous place to celebrate our freedom!! A warm, friendly welcome at the door was more than matched by the luxury that awaited within. An amazing room, personal touches, super lovely hosts and a breakfast to die for. I'd recommended Duke House to everyone and indeed have told lots of my friends about it. It most certainly is a boutique B & B.
