Went to see 2.22. A lovely little theatre but found the ladies loo a bit creepy after the show... read more
Go see this play! It is on from Monday to Saturday! Saw it in Guildford and it's brilliant!
It's the gritty true story of the vet James Herriot made famous by the TV series of this name. Despite the pig on the poster the only actual animal is a Westie! The other animals are there ok because of very clever staging and brilliant acting by Oliver Mellor, Mark curry, Susan penhaligan and Lee Latchford Evans. I don't want to say more- just go and have a wonderful evening or matinee out at the theatre.
Went to see Hetty Feather here with our children, fantastic show and very cleverly done. Liked the new look of the Arts reception area (we haven't been for a little while) but still horrendous queue for the loo, and toilet roll holder broken and hand dryer out of service. Went to buy a programme from the usherette but no she doesn't sell them but you can get them downstairs, too late show about to start. In the interval queue up at refreshments to get a programme as it is listed on their things to purchase, once got to the front of queue got told no we don't have any either you have to go to merchandising which is near the back door, yet another queue. If this is the new format of selling programmes please make people more aware as a lot of time wasted.
the new entrance and bars mean you don't have to wait for a drink and it doesn't feel so old fashioned
Having been to the theatre for a number of years I was looking forward to seeing the Cambridge Footlights on Sunday. On arrival the theatre had clearly had a facelift with new glass doors , wood panelling inside, a new carpet and great drinking and bar area. Nothing in the auditorium itself but that is fine anyway.Sadly the show was not great despite the students efforts but it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
We went to see Robert Powell play Poirot in Black Coffee, a new production of an Agatha Christie play only recently released by her estate. Great show and good to catch it locally before it heads to the West End.
This is the first time we have seen the theatre since it had its extensive makeover at the end of 2013. It is a really imaginative use of space and incorporates new bars, a new lift and greatly improved entrance and circulation space. All to a really high standard of design and finish.
Can hardly wait for our next visit.
We have been to this theatre on a number of occasions and the quality of the shows are first class, often many of them are prior to a West End run, like The Duck House that we saw recently. Costs are better also although Cambridge hates motorists!
